As promised here is a peek into my travel beauty bag. I shared a few snapchats (username: theteacherdiva) of my products during our recent trip to Europe (travel details coming soon!), but wanted to include a full post going into detail on each product. A few of you were curious about my skin care routine and miscellaneous beauty items so I was sure to go into detail on each of those. ...
Summer Favorites with White Elephant Designs
As Summer quickly approaches, I can't help but reach for some of my favorite Summer pieces. A few of you have emailed asking about accessories you can take with you to the beach and I wanted to share with these pieces from White Elephant Designs. I am currently planning a family beach trip of my own and these will definitely be on my packing list! ...
Victoria’s Secret Bombshell Fragrance
I'm the first to admit that I am a beauty junkie. If there's a new lipstick on the market, it's hard for me to say no. And if you tell me a mascara will make my lashes look longer than ever, I've already handed over my credit card. But when it comes to fragrance, I'm a little more selective. I've never been the type to have an overwhelming assortment of perfumes on my dresser, but I do have two or three that I rotate weekly.
My current go-to fragrance is Bombshell from Victoria's Secret. Their iconic fragrance is ideal for everyday wear, both day and night. ...
Mother’s Day Beauty Gift Ideas
When it comes to beauty, nothing is more beautiful to me than my sweet Mom. Not only is she fabulous on the outside (just look at that hair!), but her heart is just as lovely. Mom's teach us many things, but I appreciate most how my Mom showed me what it means to be a daughter of Christ, love others and have joy in all circumstances (of course, Dad you helped too, but this is a Mother's Day post!). ...
Estée Lauder Spring Makeup
Happy Sunday friends! I have had several requests for an updated foundation review and I have been eager to share this one with you all. Typically, I wear a CC or BB cream as my foundation, but after trying the Double Wear Foundation (on sale) by Estée Lauder I am hooked. I can now see why it has won numerous awards and is all the rage in the beauty world. ...
Travel Beauty Must Haves
Last weekend I had the joy of getting to room with my sweet friend Katey McFarlan at our work conference. Many of you know her for her gorgeous home and adorable puppy, Peaches, but I am excited to share a fun project we worked on featuring our favorite travel must haves. ...
Spring Makeup Must Haves
When it comes to my Spring and Summer beauty routine, I like to keep things as simple as possible. I look for double-duty products that will last during hot Summer days all while keeping that subtle glow. I took these products with me while we were in Mexico and I am excited to share with you some of my current makeup favorites. A few of these are new and some are oldies, either way, you need to know about them!
PS: The Weekend Edit will be coming next week. I've been pretty busy with the wedding shower tomorrow, so my content has been slightly pushed back. Thanks for understanding! xx Ashley
LONG WEAR FOUNDATION WITH SPF
I always make sure to use SPF year round, but I pay special attention to my sunscreen during the Spring & Summer. I love that It Cosmetics adds SPF to their popular CC Cream. My favorite is the CC Illuminating Cream 50+ SPF (I wear the color Medium). Ya'll, this stuff is amazing. I tried the original formula, and it just wasn't for me. It was pretty thick and while it offered amazing coverage, I find the Illuminating CC Cream to be better suited for my skin. It's not sheer by any ...
Messy Chignon Hair Tutorial
In honor of awards season, I wanted to share with you one of my favorite red carpet hairstyles, the classic chignon. I love this timeless style and find that it's appropriate for many occasions. We've seen this style polished to perfection, but I wanted to share my take on a slightly messier version that I find chic and "effortless". It's actually pretty easy too!
Thanks for reading, and here's to fabulous looking hair! xx
Products Used:
Pro Beauty Tools: 1 ¼” Professional Gold Curling Iron
Oribe: Superfine Strong Hairspray
Nexxus: Promend Heat Protectant
STEP ONE
I find that day old hair works best for this updo, it gives the hair a little extra grit and volume when worn up. Start by throwing in a few curls with a 1 ¼” Professional Curling Iron. This curling iron is my favorite because I love the size (perfect for those loose curls) and it has a variety of heat settings, making it ideal for all hair types. The barrel is 24k gold plated, and the high heat of the curling iron gives me 24 hour, long lasting curls, which is perfect for a long night out. I am very picky when it comes ...
Skin Care in 3 Easy Steps
When it comes to skin care, I like to stick to a daily and nightly routine. However, that has not always been the case. For years, I struggled with problem skin, and looking back on it, I was totally the cause.
I hate to admit it, but I used to be pretty lazy when it came to washing my face. Each night I would use a face wipe (thinking it would take off all of my makeup) followed by night cream. And in the morning, I would use face wash with my trustworthy Clarisonic (which I love). I thought I was doing everything right yet was left confused as to why my face was still suffering from surface breakouts.
My dermatologist told me that while the face wipes are great for the girl on the go, they do not clean your skin entirely nor do they remove all of your makeup...(!) She really stressed the importance of having a strict routine and using a cleanser that took off every trace of makeup.
A few months ago I had the opportunity to try this brand new skin care line by bareMinerals, called Skinsorials. I've used their makeup since high school. so I knew it had to be great, but I was anxious to see if the skin care really lived up to all of the hype. The Skinsorials line has a handful of cleansers and
Effortless Waves Tutorial
Happy Friday! One of my favorite (and easiest) ways I like to style my hair, is by throwing in a few loose waves. And while I love curls, waves are definitely my go-to look for an easy, every day style. Many of you have requested more hair tips & tutorials, so I'm excited to kick off 2016 with my most requested tutorial; tousled waves.
Here's to happy, healthy hair!
To achieve this look, simply start with clean, damp hair. I have been using the Nexxus New York Salon Care Color Assure Regimen and have been very happy with the results. I find myself to be pretty picky when it comes to hair products (aren't we all?) and this regimen has worked wonderful for my hair. It's so important to use a sulfate free shampoo when you have color treated hair. Here, you can read more hair tips for color treated hair.
PREP
Before blowdrying, use Nexxus New York Salon Care Oil Infinite Nourishing Hair Oil on towel dried hair. This stuff is the bomb. It ...
