Hi everyone! I am so excited to team up with Lulu & Georgia today and share with you some updates around our home. As you may know, we recently bought our first home in July. It has been an exciting (scary) and fun time getting to decorate, and experience life as first time homeowners. And while it's been exciting, I have to admit that I totally struggle with making decisions (especially when it comes to home decorating). It can be a little intimidating buying new furniture! I knew I wanted to update our bar cart now that we had the space and Lulu and Georgia made it so easy for me. I happened to find this Mirrored Bamboo Tray Table and turned it into the perfect little bar cart.
With the holidays just around the corner, I could not wait to get this area in our home styled. We added these agate coasters, gold detailed cocktail glasses, and this gold urchin from Lulu & Georgia to add our own style to the cart. I also wanted to add some prints for a little gallery wall and I was so impressed with how affordable their selection was! Seriously, prints can cost a pretty ...
Accessorize Your Home
Moving can be overwhelming. And if you're like me, you're still trying to makeup your mind on furniture styles and decorations 3 months later. I feel like my house should be perfect and 100% done, but I have realized these things take time and patience is key.
I always look to Pinterest and Instagram for my daily does of inspiration. Whether it's for home or style, it's certain I will find something that catches my eye. Rachel George has been a favorite of mine for a while. Not only for decorating ideas, but also for their adorable accessories. Rachel George is an online boutique, specializing in home and office decor as well as fine jewelry. I know you will love it just as much as I do!
Even though I feel like my home isn't finished, it really helps to have a few great accessories to help liven up the place. I chose some fun Kate Spade Office Accessories, this little Jonathan Adler Zebra Dish, and I could not pass up this cool
On My Desk
Happy Wednesday! Today I wanted to share some new desk accessories as of late. I often get asked questions about my desk (both at home and at school) and usually they involve: Where'd you get that? and Where do you shop? I am always updating my desk setup with new gadgets or little containers to help me organize. I can't help but love cute accessories to keep me motivated to get things done.
I always shop online to find unique and one of a kind desk accessories. White Elephant Designs makes the best acrylics. I love using their letter holder to hold letters (imagine that!) and a few business cards. Monogrammed trinkets are always a fun way to personalize your work space! Waiting on Martha is another shop that I am constantly checking out. She has amazing finds from Kate Spade and so many cute paper goods that I could easily find an excuse to buy every note pad on her site! Target is another place I recommend checking out. It's always affordable and their
West Elm Style Session
West Elm Dallas & The Teacher Diva - Workspace Style Session from West Elm Dallas on Vimeo.
Happy Tuesday everyone! I am excited to share a little project I have been working on with West Elm Dallas + Mockingbird Station. When West Elm Dallas reached out to me to share what inspires me, it was easy. My home office. It's the space where I can go and feel inspiration, creativity and oddly enough, relaxed. Not only do I use it for blogging, but I am also using it as an area to create lessons and seek inspiration in the classroom as well. Therefore it's important to me to have a space that is functional for both areas of my life.
With the help of West Elm's awesome staff and the Mockingbird Station Lofts, we were able to create a simple, yet chic, work area. I kept it simple with the Parsons Desk in white and added pops of colors through prints, florals and decorative objects like this adorable french bulldog plate (I'm obsessed!).
We want to see what inspires you for Fall and give you an opportunity for you to win a $500 West Elm Dallas ...
How To Style Your Dresser
When we moved, the first thing I wanted to organize was my dresser. My closet was a close second, but I also use my dresser as a vanity. So in order for my morning routine to go quickly and smooth, I wanted to have all my products organized and easily accessible.
My goal was to keep it feminine and clean. And though I don't feel 100% done with this project, I did want to share a quick look on how to update your vanity or dresser.
1. I love prints and books. They are a fun way to add character and personality to your space. I wanted something that went with our decor and would compliment the neutral colors throughout our room and bathroom.
2. My makeup was always my biggest battle. I had a habit where I would just toss everything in my makeup bag..or drawer, which was fine until I couldn't find what I was looking for or until the lid came off and makeup would spill...it was just a mess. I wanted something to display my makeup in a pretty yet functional way. This Monogramed Acrylic Box from White Elephant Designs is a life savor for those who love organization.
3. Finally, I added some extra items on my
On My Desk with Remodo
I have always had a weakness for desk accessories and office supplies. This may not come as a surprise considering I am a teacher, but I actually get excited to buy new pens and don't even get me started on a new notepad. I recently was introduced to Remodo, an online interior design company dedicated to young adults and anyone who likes cute home goodies. Started in August 2013 by sisters Amanda and Whitney Fox, the site provides fresh, stylish options for all your home and office needs. I couldn't resist this leopard lucite tray and this blue "notes" pad...too cute!
Want to get in on all the Remodo fun? They are on their "Remodo on the Road" tour right now and their next stop is Dallas! They will be in town August 22nd-23rd and they would love for you to stop by their mobile showroom. Stop by the SMU campus during the day on Friday, August 22nd or on Saturday, August 23rd, at Dallas Contemporary in the Design District Market from 12-8pm. You can follow along via instagram with #Remodoontheroad to get all the behind the scenes details.
Visitors have the option to work with Amanda and Whitney, ask design questions, see products such as pillows, lamps, rugs, chairs, ...
For The Home | Desk Accessories
Last week I posted this picture of my desk on Instagram and had no idea it would get such positive feedback. I received many emails and comments requesting more pictures and details so I figured- why not give you guys a front row view! Office supplies might be one of my weaknesses, right next to buying lipstick. Maybe it's the teacher in me, but I get so excited to see new (and cute) office supplies.
I should probably clarify, this is not my teacher desk (I only wish my teacher desk was this cute and clean). This is the desk I use at home. After moving a couple weeks ago, we are finally getting things organized. But please don't be fooled, if only you could see the mess of laundry behind my right now. I will be sure to post a home office tour once things are finished. What items do you keep on your desk? I am always looking to find new little accessories for the office. It just seems to make working that much better, right?

Wardrobe Refresh
Summer is on it's way and I couldn't be more excited! Not only do I love the longer days, but I love giving my closet a little "summer refresh" by keeping things easy and cool. That means stowing away the coats and cardigans and bringing out plenty of whites, neutral, and of course fun patterns. My number one way to stay cool in Dallas is a good pair of denim shorts. I have a couple that I always wear simply because they are a staple in my summer wardrobe. For top, I reach for ones that are flowy and breezy like this blouse from Anthropologie and the ever so classic Equipment Signature Blouse. These are both great pieces that get me ready for summer! I try to incorporate colorful jewelry like this Seastone Anthropologie Necklace and pretty bangles from Reece Blaire.
Another sign of summer for me is Bottled Starbucks® Iced Coffee. It's one of my favorite sweet treats to keep me refreshed and ready to take on the day. I was thrilled to see that Starbucks is now carrying iced coffee! "Bottled Starbucks® Iced Coffee beverages are the perfect blend of premium Starbucks coffee and 2 percent milk. Available in four delicious offerings: Coffee + Milk, Low Calorie Coffee + Milk, Vanilla, and Caramel, Starbucks Iced Coffee ready-to-drink beverages are ...
For The Home | Candles
I love shopping for candles. Not only do I want my house to look nice, but I want it to smell wonderful too! I keep candles in almost every room of my house. I've found that the combination of glowing candlelight and being surrounded by my favorite scents helps me to unwind in a peaceful atmosphere. I'm also sucker for packaging. A good looking candle is important to me because it also doubles as my decor. Above are some of my favorite candles and some that I would like to try. What are your favorites? ...
A Good Idea
We're off to NYC today! I can’t begin to tell you how excited I am. I’m looking forward to walks along Central Park, macaroons from Magnolia Bakery, and of course some 5th avenue shopping (to name just a few things). While Boston was a blast, I am excited to be back in New York. Austin has never been to NYC, so I hope to show him all the hot spots and see some new things as well.
If you have any places for eats or treats, please let us know! We are always looking for new suggestions!
