At the Market
If only Dallas had flower markets like Seattle, am I right? Looking back at these photos from our trip to Seattle makes me miss this city even more. Like I said, we went to the market every day during our stay and I couldn't resist a $5 bouquet even if it did mean I would have to leave it behind. Cherry blossoms always remind me of our wedding and I couldn't say no.
I have been wearing this pink coat (under $40) so much since it's still chilly. It is such a steal and actually amazing quality for the price! See how I styled it with boyfriend jeans here. Happy Tuesday! xx

A Weekend in Seattle
pink coat | gold bracelet | ring
Last weekend, Austin and I had the most wonderful time in Seattle. It was my husbands first trip and my second, but it was equally just as exciting for both of us. While we aren’t gurus of this city, I did want to share with you some neat places for dining, sight seeing, and lodging while your downtown.
It was really important to us to find a hotel that was located near the water and Pike Place Market. I did some research and found The Palladian Hotel had everything we wanted!
Everything from the marble countertops to the food at Shaker + Spear was on point. We loved staying at this boutique hotel!

The Packing List | Seattle
Hi Guys! I'm pretty excited to be heading off to Seattle with Austin tonight! He has a work conference there next week, and since I have an extra personal day to spend, I figured why not. I love little trips like this and can't wait to spend the next few days with him!
Seattle is truly one of my favorite cities. My husband has never been before, so I am excited to take a long weekend and explore the town together. Pikes Market is of course at the top of my list and maybe a little trip to Bainbridge Island. I would love to hear some of your suggestions! Food, shopping, places to see? I'm all ears!
As for packing, I like to keep it simple when it comes to my carry on. Give me a few magazines and a notepad to make a list and I am good to go. The OMG Bag from Lo & Sons is one of my favorite carry on's (a co-worker of mine uses this as her teacher bag and I am thinking about making the switch as well) since it fits everything so well. Like most people, I like to bring my laptop when traveling. This bag makes it worry free with the secure laptop pocket. I also like that it has plenty of storage for shoes, pens & notepads, and any other loose items I might throw in along the way.
Eek! Send me suggestions...I would love to hear them! xx
NYFW Recap
Watch | Scarf | Coat (size up) | Striped Top | Bracelet | Thumb Ring | Jeans
Happy Monday! You may have seen me tweet or snapchat last night that school is canceled today (!!!) Big news for us teachers and I know students all over North Texas are rejoicing just as much as their teachers.
I wanted to share a little recap with you from my trip to New York last week! I was so excited and humbled to get to attend fashion week last week. My short trip was busy, but exciting!
After arriving Thursday afternoon, we went straight to the Hunter Bell presentation. I was so impressed with her fall collection. Hunter was so down to earth and friendly. It was so nice getting to meet a fellow Texan in New York! Immediately following, we rushed over to meet with the Ann Taylor team. Here, we had the opportunity to see the headquarters, design studio, and check out their new Spring line. It was so exciting and every one was so friendly. I can't wait to share with you some ...
Holiday Events in Dallas
I love living in Dallas. I've lived here since I was 12, and each year, more and more opportunities come to Dallas to make this city even more exciting. I know a lot of you live in the area, and some of you have emailed me saying you were traveling here for the holidays. I always get asked about dining, shopping, and entertainment so I figured I'd share some of my favorite places to go while in the city for the holidays. Most of these are family friendly so feel free to bring on the kids! Happy Holidays! xx
1. Highland Park Village This has always been one of my favorite spots in Dallas. During the holidays they have every tree (more like branch) lit up with beautiful white lights. It's so gorgeous! Each year, Austin and I have our "Christmas Date" here and we hit up Mi Cocina, Starbucks then drive through the neighborhoods to look at lights and jam to Christmas tunes. While I visit the village often, this is probably my favorite date that we have and I look forward to it every year. The shopping is pretty fabulous too!
2. The Carriage Rides at Highland Park Village While you're in Dallas, why not take a festive horse drawn carriage to take you through the neighborhoods of Highland Park. Sit back and sip on some hot cocoa as you look at all the lights and homes decorated for the holidays! My family has done this before and it was so much fun ...
Do In Dallas | The Joule Hotel
Last month, Austin and I decided to treat ourselves to a little "staycation" at The Joule Hotel in Dallas. I just had finished Parent Teacher Conferences, and he just finished a big project at work so we decided we needed a little R&R. While I've stayed at the hotel before, it was only for a short bit. This time, we did things a little differently. We relaxed, had no schedule, and took time to enjoy all the amenities the hotel had to offer. It was so fun to be a tourist in our own city. We ate at new places, shopped in new stores and walked areas we've never seen. Every aspect of this hotel is unique: the rooms and the lobby are a just a few of my favorite parts that make up this cool hotel. Be sure to keep reading for the full scoop on this gorgeous downtown hotel, or head over to instagram to see pictures from our staycation!
Our first stop, was dinner at CBD Provisions. Some of our friends frequent this restaurant all the time, so we couldn't wait to see what all the fuss was about. CBD Provisions is a modern Texas brasserie located in the heart of downtown ...
West Elm Style Session
West Elm Dallas & The Teacher Diva - Workspace Style Session from West Elm Dallas on Vimeo.
Happy Tuesday everyone! I am excited to share a little project I have been working on with West Elm Dallas + Mockingbird Station. When West Elm Dallas reached out to me to share what inspires me, it was easy. My home office. It's the space where I can go and feel inspiration, creativity and oddly enough, relaxed. Not only do I use it for blogging, but I am also using it as an area to create lessons and seek inspiration in the classroom as well. Therefore it's important to me to have a space that is functional for both areas of my life.
With the help of West Elm's awesome staff and the Mockingbird Station Lofts, we were able to create a simple, yet chic, work area. I kept it simple with the Parsons Desk in white and added pops of colors through prints, florals and decorative objects like this adorable french bulldog plate (I'm obsessed!).
We want to see what inspires you for Fall and give you an opportunity for you to win a $500 West Elm Dallas ...
The Packing List | NYFW
In just a few short hours, I will be on my way to experience my very first Fashion Week in New York City. I am so excited to be traveling with dear friends, Bishop & Holland, and I can't wait to share some exciting collaborations & projects with you! Oh and I know you are all thinking, a teacher at fashion week?! So yes, a teacher at fashion week. Crazy!
Packing for an event like Fashion Week can be an exciting, yet daunting task. However, I was so excited when Portero wanted to team up to share my packing list for NYFW. Portero is one of the leading companies in selling authentic, vintage bags and the only place I go to for gently used accessories. This Louis Vuitton Duffle from Portero was the perfect size for a quick trip. Not only does it do the job, but it looks great too!
In my bag, you will find some fun heels, like these new lace up booties from Steve Madden. Or of course, the classic Valentino Rock Stud Pump. I also threw in some flats because, let's be honest, there's no way ...
On My Desk with Remodo
I have always had a weakness for desk accessories and office supplies. This may not come as a surprise considering I am a teacher, but I actually get excited to buy new pens and don't even get me started on a new notepad. I recently was introduced to Remodo, an online interior design company dedicated to young adults and anyone who likes cute home goodies. Started in August 2013 by sisters Amanda and Whitney Fox, the site provides fresh, stylish options for all your home and office needs. I couldn't resist this leopard lucite tray and this blue "notes" pad...too cute!
Want to get in on all the Remodo fun? They are on their "Remodo on the Road" tour right now and their next stop is Dallas! They will be in town August 22nd-23rd and they would love for you to stop by their mobile showroom. Stop by the SMU campus during the day on Friday, August 22nd or on Saturday, August 23rd, at Dallas Contemporary in the Design District Market from 12-8pm. You can follow along via instagram with #Remodoontheroad to get all the behind the scenes details.
Visitors have the option to work with Amanda and Whitney, ask design questions, see products such as pillows, lamps, rugs, chairs, ...
