Oh how I wish I was still in Mexico right about now! A few months ago Austin and I went out to visit The Cape Cabo and during our trip, I pretty much lived in swim suits and coverups. ...
Travel Beauty Must Haves
Last weekend I had the joy of getting to room with my sweet friend Katey McFarlan at our work conference. Many of you know her for her gorgeous home and adorable puppy, Peaches, but I am excited to share a fun project we worked on featuring our favorite travel must haves. ...
Coffee Date with Kate
Hi everyone! I am so excited to share a few pictures and a fun interview I did with Kate from The Small Things Blog. She was in Dallas a few weekends ago, and Austin and I had the pleasure of meeting her downtown at Mercat Bistro.
This was my first time to meet her face-to-face, but after a few short minutes, it was like we've been long time friends. We talked about our favorite things, shared funny stories, and of course talked about all things hair! Chances are you know Kate, but if you don't, you will quickly learn that she is a hair genius (seriously, I know you've seen her all over Pinterest). When it comes to tools, products, and tutorials, this girl has you covered!
We had so much fun sitting down and chatting with Kate. She is just so nice and genuine...I hope to work with her again soon!
Here are a few questions from our interview. Enjoy! ...
A Trip to Flora Farms
A few weeks ago, Austin and I traveled to Cabo San Lucas to work on a few projects for The Teacher Diva. Many of you followed along via snapchat and instagram, but if you are a new follower (welcome!) you can see more from our trip here or read my Cabo Travel Guide from last Summer.
One place we wanted to visit while in Cabo was Flora Farms. I was so excited to get to go during our trip! Flora Farms is a ten-acre organic farm in the foothills of the Sierra de la Laguna Mountains in San Jose del Cabo, Mexico. While touring the property you will see their organic farm, grocery market, restaurant and various stores.
Flora Farms was a 35 minute cab ride from our hotel, so we made sure to leave in plenty of time to view the property before sunset. When we arrived, we grabbed a drink from The Farm Bar and toured the farm while we waited for our table at Flora Fields Kitchen. The food was absolutely incredible. We sampled a variety of items, and everything was delicious. Their menus ...
The Cape, A Thompson Hotel
Last week, Austin and I traveled to Cabo San Lucas to work on a project for The Teacher Diva and in the midst of shooting content and phone meetings, we also made an effort to relax and enjoy our time in Mexico (it's always important to have balance, right?).
During our trip, we stayed at The Cape Hotel in Cabo San Lucas. The luxe resort is a singular beachfront retreat with a perfect view of The Arch and the Bahía San Lucas horizon. Thompson Hotels already have an outstanding reputation, and The Cape Hotel did not dissapoint.
The incredible service starts as soon as you get off your plane and get through customs. The hotel offers private transportation to and from the airport, so you have the opportunity to take a private car (with complimentary bottled water, wifi and candy) to the resort. You can also find a local taxi easily when you walk outside of the airport. The private car is around $140 and the taxi is around $60. The drive is about 45 minutes, but it goes by pretty fast and you have a great view of the desert and beach.
From the moment we drove up to the property, we were impressed with the detailing and service. Austin and I were each greeted by the hotel staff offering us "Welcome Drinks" (this was a nice treat considering the hotel was not all inclusive). As we started walking ...
Day 2 NYFW
Happy Leap Year! I hope you guys are enjoying your extra 24 hrs. I wanted to share this look from Day 2 at NYFW and some more information about our stay in New York. I've recieved quite a few questions about places to eat and stay while in New York, so I wanted to be sure and address those as well.
This year, we stayed at the Conrad New York. I absolutely loved this hotel and it's beautiful view of the Hudson River. If you saw my snapchats (username: the teacher diva), you know what I'm talking about! The rooms were spacious and the service was top notch.
Many of you asked, what does a blogger do during Fashion Week? Well, there are many different things to do as a blogger/press, but I would say the main goal is to give coverage for the brand and share the new collection with your audience. Whether it's sharing a video from backstage on Snapchat or a still image captured on Instagram, it's important to share those exciting moments for the brand. I love looking at what's happening backstage or see a preview of what's to come in the next season!
During our stay, we had many meetings and showroom visits in the midst of the shows and presentaions. This makes for a very busy few days, but creates an opportunity to build some amazing relationships and meet some incredible people! We decided to use
NYFW Day 1
I am so excited to share with you a quick recap from my recent trip to NYFW and a look at my outfit for Day 1. While fashion week is exciting, February in New York is extremely cold. So planning your outfits is a little tricky, but definitely strategic. You want to be comfortable, yet "put together" and layering is a must!
I loved wearing these Radium Leggings from Carbon 38 to backstage at the Leanne Marshal show. You guys know how much I love Carbon 38 and I could not wait for these leggings to arrive in the mail just in time for me to take them on my trip. Not only are they extremely comfortable, but they have a shiny finish...almost like leather, but feel like fabric. I layered them with my favorite Ash Booties and Carbon 38 Parka over this top. It was the perfect combination for warmth and comfort. Would you judge me if I told you I wore these leggings more than once during this trip? You know how it goes when you find a pair that you love (plus they were so easy to pack)!
During our trip we were able to meet with some of my favorite brands and see a few shows and presentations. I ...
Coffee Run
Each weekend, Austin and I look forward to what we call our "breakfast date". It's a little tradition we picked up from my in-laws (they've done this for several years!), where we go try a new place for breakfast on Saturday or after church on Sunday. We love this part of the weekend and this encourages us to get out, try new things, and enjoy the city we live in! Our schedules are pretty busy at times, so we look forward to that quality time, just the two of us.
One of our recent trips was to Boulangerie by Village Baking Co. on Lower Greenville. This little cafe is so adorable with white marble tables, checkered stools, and not to mention the pastries are quite yummy. This was our first trip but it will not be our last! I highly recommend the Almond Croissant and Austin recommends the Bacon and Cheddar Croissant.
I loved wearing this colorful outfit while we were out. You may have noticed, I tend to wear a lot of neutrals and black, so this was a change for me...but I love it! This Ferragamo Shoulder Bag from Luisaviaroma is the perfect neutral color and goes with so many prints and patterns. I loved the way it looked with this teal blazer. Seeing these colors together make me ...
A Weekend in Fredericksburg
A few weekends ago, Austin and I celebrated his birthday by taking a little road trip down to Fredericksburg, TX. Though we've never been, it cam highly recommended by family and friends to visit this adorable town. Being only 4 hours from Dallas, this was the ideal distance for a quick trip. I wanted to share with your some of our favorite places to eat, stay and see while in Fredericksburg.
WHERE TO STAY
As this was our first trip to Fredericksburg, we really didn't know what to expect. One of our friends highly recommended staying at The Hoffman Haus, and said we would love staying at this cozy bed and breakfast. We were so excited to check it out!
When booking your stay, keep in mind each cottage is different. Some are bigger for groups and others are small and quaint. Austin really wanted the feel of a cabin, so we decided to stay in Cottage #5 (which we loved and looked just like a log cabin). The best part, is each morning they deliver breakfast promtly to your porch at 9:00am. I figured it would be muffins and juice, but we were pleasantly surprised to see that it was a hearty spread. It was so yummy!
The location was the perfect distance to Main St. and we loved the beautiful property.
DINING
During our trip, we went to several great places. One of our favorite places to eat for dinner included
The Packing List | Mexico
By now I'm sure we all can agree this cold weather has got to go. Being in Dallas we haven't experienced it quite like other areas, but I sure do miss patio weather. I can't help but dream of a sitting on a beach in Mexico!
In effort to make winter more bearable, Austin and I decided to plan a little "Winter Escape" in February. I'm heading to Cabo to work on a project for The Teacher Diva, but we decided to extend the trip a couple days and make a little getaway out of it.
Just as I’ve been counting down the days until this little trip, I’ve also been planning out my packing list. The thing I love about traveling to the beach is that you really don’t need much. I try to keep my packing limited to these essentials:
SWIMWEAR
What is a trip to the beach without fabulous (and affordable) swimwear? I am in love with these suits from Modcloth. I can't get over this Pastel One-Piece Swimsuit. The colors are so beautiful and I love the way it fits (I am always a fan of a cute one-piece)! I also found this high-wasted Two-Piece that will look great with my fringed and lace coverup. Speaking of coverups, I have been looking for a white ...
