Happy Friday! Today, I am heading off to Denver for my friends 30th birthday. I've never been to Denver before, but from what I hear, it's a pretty neat place. I am going with a few of the girls I used to teach with, so I am looking forward to catching up and spending some quality time with them.
While this is a short trip, I want to pack things that are versatile and functional. After all, it is much colder in Denver than Dallas (which I am so excited about) and sweaters are a must. I immediately thought back to this cozy, layered look from last week.
This cowl neck poncho might be my favorite sweater I own. Not only is this one the perfect neutral color, but the oversized shape is exactly what I’m looking for. This is one of those sweaters that can be worn with stripes, neutrals or brights, so it's pretty versatile. I found it at Modcloth after searching for a plaid blanket scarf (they have so many under $25) and knew it was something I would wear all season long. Oh, and if you're looking for a new coat, this one is also noteworthy!
Layers like this are a go-to for me and will definitely get me through a chilly Colorado ...
Michael Kors Holiday
Without a doubt my favorite seasons are Fall & Winter. I love this time of year for many reasons, but especially for the holidays. With November just around the corner, I am so excited to team up with Michael Kors and share some pieces from their holiday collection. You all know I wear this boyfriend watch almost daily, so I couldn't wait to see what new pieces they came out with for the holidays.
For me, I am more of a minimalist when it comes to jewelry, but for the holiday I always like to add a little sparkle. I love how these pieces provide a subtle, yet glamorous touch, whether they're worn to a cocktail party or holiday brunch with friends. My favorite piece has to be the mesh crystal necklace or rounded mesh bangles. I am a big fan of mixing gold and silver and these are perfect for stacking or worn alone.
What are your favorite pieces? Thanks for reading! xx
Ask Ashley // No. 1
I like to shop at various places but my favorite stores include ASOS, Nordstrom, Loft and Shopbop. These are nice because they make it easy to search for clothes at all price points. Another budget friendly store is H&M. They are much more affordable than most and I've been able to find some nice, quality pieces.
After spending many hours in prayer and thoughtful planning, I have decided to step down from teaching and focus on building this website and brand.
You can read more about this decision here.
We have a lot of exciting things coming in 2016 and I can't wait to share them with you. Thank you for your continued support and kind words!
Fall in Dallas
Things are finally starting to cool down around Dallas and I wanted to share with your some fun things to do in the DFW area with your friends or family. I love this season for many reasons, but nothing beats this weather. Here are a few fun activities to do outside this fall:
Autumn at the Arboretum
Going to the arboretum in the Fall is one of my favorite traditions. These photo's were actually taken at the Arboretum, however, it only shows a small part of what they have to offer. From the Pumpkin Village to the rose garden, it's a fun place to go with friends or family. There are plenty of places to eat inside, but you can also bring in food or drinks. Be sure to wear flats, it's a lot of walking!
Kylde Warren Park Food Trucks
Klyde Warren Park has always been a favorite of mine. Now that the weather has cooled off, it's a great place to check out. We love the food trucks (beware, it gets very busy!) and the dog park. The food trucks are open from 11:00-3:00 and sometime stay open later. Our favorite truck is The Butcher's Son. For a full list of things to do at the park, visit here.

Colorblock Tunic
Happy Friday! I've had a few requests for work wear, so I wanted to share a comfortable look that can be worn for both work or play. When I was teaching, these pants were my go to. They are very comfortable and while denim, still kept a professional appeal. I loved pairing them with long cardigans since my classroom was notoriously cold.
This colorblock tunic is also a great transition piece. I am a huge fan of neutrals and I love the oversized fit. I actually bought this for my Mom and ended up leaving with one for me too! Funny how that works.
Do you have any fun plans this weekend? My husband and I are headed to a little lake retreat with a few couples from our Home Group at church. Though the forecast is predicting rain, I am so ready to head out to the country and spend time with our friends.
Have a great weekend & thanks for reading! xx

Sweater Dress
Every fall wardrobe needs a knit sweater dress. It's a great option for warmer days but can also be worn with layers when it get's chilly. I recently, found this Turtleneck Sweater Dress by Wayf. I love the way it fits. I've always struggled to find a good fitting sweater dress, and this one takes the cake.
I find sweater dresses are an easy way to adjust with the season. They can take you through the winter months with a pair of leather leggings or tights and are perfect to wear with booties or tall boots. I also like the idea of throwing on this vest (also seen here) or a plaid scarf as a fun way to accessorize this rather simple look.
Thanks for reading and thank you for sending in your questions regarding yesterday's post. Keep them coming!

Cozy Stripes
With the fall chill finally setting in, I am getting to take advantage of my ever growing scarf collection. I am always a sucker for a good scarf. And over the years, I've collected quite a few. Blanket scarves aren't a new thing, but I love their versatility. They can easily double as a shawl or poncho (like I'm wearing here), yet still be worn as a tradition scarf.
Personally, I find them perfect for those days when you're not quite sure what to wear. Throw one on over a sweater or long sleeve tee and you're good to go. This 70's inspired striped scarf is perfect to wear as a shawl, worn open around my neck or wrapped up tight. If you're looking for a plaid print, I also love this one.

Layering with Cuddl Duds + Giveaway
November is only a couple of weeks away and one of my favorite things to do is switch out all the summer cover-ups, tank tops, and shorts and replace them with cozy layers, warm sweaters and soft leggings. If you've read my blog before, you know I love layers (especially this time of year).
Last month, I traveled to NYC to shoot with Cuddl Duds for their #LiveInLayers campaign. This brand may be new to you, but it's one that you will want to know. Being someone that loves layers and comfort, I couldn't pass up this exciting collaboration. Myself and a few other bloggers took their campaign message “We Make the Layers, You Make Them….” and finished the sentence based on our personal sense of style. I chose to make the layers "sweet" by incorporating neutrals and soft fabrics. When shopping for each look, I found some pieces at JC Penny that complimented Cuddl Duds tops & leggings. I personally loved this grey poncho paired with the Softwear Turtleneck. It's a cozy look for both fall and winter.
I value this brand because for me, it's all about those pieces you can mix and match. I find myself always pulling turtlenecks or soft long sleeve tops to wear under my wraps or cardigans. Since trying Cuddl Duds, I love wearing their Softwear Stretch Turtlenecks and
Shearling Vest
Happy Friday! I am so looking forward to this weekend. And not because we have these exciting plans, but because I am able to tackle my ever growing list of things to do around the house. You may remember me talking about how we are dong some home updates, and we are almost done (whew). I can't wait to share the finished look with you in November! But this weekend, our goal is to hang the curtains in my office, build a shelf, measure for a gallery wall (any tips greatly appreciated...I am honestly dreading it), and pick out art. It will be busy, but hopefully productive!
Anyways, I wanted to share a cozy look with you that will be perfect to wear this fall and winter. One of my favorite purchases as of late has been this faux shearling vest (similar under $100). And while I haven't been able to wear it as much as I plan (love this Texas weather), I know it will come in handy in the next few weeks.
It’s a wear-with-anything kind of piece, and it’s absolutely perfect for winter layering. Just throw it on over a sweater or cardigan for extra warmth! We have a few trips planned to the lake this Fall and I can't wait to stay warm in this little vest. If this style isn't for you, I found more ...
Fringed Cape
One of my favorite "fall essentials" is the cape (you can see how I've styled them over the past year here and here). This fringe cape caught my eye because it's a great layering piece that can be worn with skinny jeans or black denim (on sale).
I always like to layer capes over a lightweight sweater or t-shirt. They are an easy way to complete any outfit and a great transition piece. For me, capes are great this time of year because the Texas weather can be so unpredictable. I pretty much live in layers during the fall and this cape is no exception.
