Happy Friday! Today, I am sharing my first gift guide for the holidays. I know, we just got through Halloween, and this may seem very early. However, several of you have emailed me asked for recommendations, so I thought I would get a jump start on things.
Since we are currently traveling (you can see more on snapchat or instagram) I wanted to share my gift suggestions for the Jetsetter. ...

The Packing List: Charleston
When Austin and I traveled to Charleston a few weeks ago (you can read our travel guide here), we stayed at The Mills House. It was a beautiful hotel and the perfect location to walk around the city. While we were there, I got several emails and comments asking if I would share my packing essentials and suggestions. I personally, love to read "in my bag" types of posts so I am excited to share one with all of you! ...
Birthday Wishlist
1 // 2 [a girl can dream, right] // 3 // 4 // 5 // 6 // 7 // 8 // 9 [also comes in black] // 10 // 11 // 12
Well, it's officially birthday week over here and the countdown to 29 is on! Thursday is my official birthday, but in my family, we like to keep the celebrations going all week. Yesterday, I took the day off and spent the morning grabbing coffee with my mom, followed by a little pre-birthday shopping at the mall. Mom and I always plan little dates like this during my birthday week and vice versa, so I am looking forward to spending some time with her. Even when I was teaching full time, my birthday always fell on Spring Break so it's become somewhat of a tradition.
Below are a few of my favorite things that I am loving for Spring! I love buying gifts for my friends and family, but sometimes it can be ...
The Packing List | Mexico
By now I'm sure we all can agree this cold weather has got to go. Being in Dallas we haven't experienced it quite like other areas, but I sure do miss patio weather. I can't help but dream of a sitting on a beach in Mexico!
In effort to make winter more bearable, Austin and I decided to plan a little "Winter Escape" in February. I'm heading to Cabo to work on a project for The Teacher Diva, but we decided to extend the trip a couple days and make a little getaway out of it.
Just as I’ve been counting down the days until this little trip, I’ve also been planning out my packing list. The thing I love about traveling to the beach is that you really don’t need much. I try to keep my packing limited to these essentials:
SWIMWEAR
What is a trip to the beach without fabulous (and affordable) swimwear? I am in love with these suits from Modcloth. I can't get over this Pastel One-Piece Swimsuit. The colors are so beautiful and I love the way it fits (I am always a fan of a cute one-piece)! I also found this high-wasted Two-Piece that will look great with my fringed and lace coverup. Speaking of coverups, I have been looking for a white ...
Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays
Though Christmas was yesterday, Austin and I still wanted to take a moment and wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays.
We hope your holiday was relaxing and spent with loved ones.
Isaiah 9:6
For to us a child is born,
to us a son is given,
and the government will be on his shoulders.
And he will be called
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Blessings to you and your family!

Holiday Fun in Dallas
Hi everyone! As promised, here is a list of my favorite things to do in Dallas during the holiday season. I love living in the area and always feel like a tourist in my own city during Christmas. There is just so much to do!
Enjoy!! xx
1. Highland Park Village This has always been one of my favorite spots in Dallas. During the holidays they have every tree lit up with beautiful white lights. It’s so gorgeous! Each year, Austin and I have our “Christmas Date” here. The night consists of dinner at Mi Cocina followed by a coffee at Starbucks or Royal Blue Grocery (new coffee shop). Then, we drive through the neighborhoods to look at all the Christmas lights and listen to Christmas music. It's one of my very favorite traditions!
2. The Carriage Rides at Highland Park Village While you’re in Dallas, why not ride in a horse drawn carriage through the neighborhoods of Highland Park. Sit back and sip on some hot cocoa as you look at all the lights and homes decorated for the holidays! My family has done this before and it was so much fun. Be sure to make a reservation, they book up fast!
3. The Trains at Northpark This is geared towards the little ones but one ...
The Holiday Collection | For the Home
With our home "refresh" on the brain, I figured I would make my last Gift Guide feature some of my favorite things for the home. We had these leopard x stools made a few months ago from Liven Up Design and we have been so impressed with the quality and detailing! I can't wait to show you how we styled them when our home tour goes live in January. They were exactly what we were looking for!
I also love coffee table books. Over the years, I've collected an assortment of photography, travel and fashion books to use as decorative pieces throughout the house. Each year, I always ask for a couple at Christmas. This year, I'm asking for this one by Kate Spade. If you love to travel, I recently took a peak inside St. Barths and the pictures (as well as the cover) are gorgeous. I also just purchased this one for Austin's office.
Have you guys finished all of your shopping? I still have a few people to buy for, but I am almost done! Some of you asked if I was going to post my guide for holiday events in Dallas. I am planning to share that tomorrow but here is a look at my post ...
The Holiday Party Skirt
With holiday parties in full swing, I could not wait to share with you this party inspired look from New York & Company. And while red is the color of choice for most, I chose to keep it neutral with this blush pleated skirt and black bow tie blouse from the new Eva Mendes Collection with New York & Company.
As a former teacher, I found New York & Company to be a great place for affordable basics and trendy pieces for work wear. Many cardigans and black pants were purchased here and I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work with New York & Company on something a little more festive.
This pleated skirt is perfect for any party or dressier occasion. I can't wait to wear this black & pink look to a friend's Christmas Party this weekend and I also plan to wear it to Christmas Eve Service with our family. If you love neutrals, try pairing the skirt with a white or cream blouse. The monochromatic look is so pretty!
Hope you guys have a great day and thanks so much for stopping by! xx

Dressing for a Holiday Party
Looking for a festive ensemble to wear this holiday season? Leave it to Nordstrom to have your back with a variety of holiday dresses, sequined tops and patterned skirts perfect to wear to any party.
In my book, this is the most exciting time of the year. There's just something special about decorating the tree, hanging lights, and spending quality time with family. This year, Austin and I are looking forward to hosting our first ever Christmas party in our new home. We have been frantically working on finishing our home makeover, and while it's taken (much) longer than anticipated, we are so close to being done. Though, our party is a few weeks away and I have already started searching for a festive frock to wear that evening.
I'm not always a "red" person, but I made an exception when I saw this scalloped lace dress. I love the details and it's definitely holiday appropriate. To complete the look, I paired it with my bow tie blouse and favorite nude pumps.
If you're looking for something festive, but not as dressy, I suggest these Slim Jacquard Pants or this faux fur sweater vest. Both are versatile and easily something you could transition into a work or evening look.
If you have any ...
