When it comes to beauty, nothing is more beautiful to me than my sweet Mom. Not only is she fabulous on the outside (just look at that hair!), but her heart is just as lovely. Mom's teach us many things, but I appreciate most how my Mom showed me what it means to be a daughter of Christ, love others and have joy in all circumstances (of course, Dad you helped too, but this is a Mother's Day post!). ...

Travel Beauty Must Haves

Project Beauty Event With Neiman Marcus
I always enjoy trying new skin and beauty products, and if you've read my blog for a while, you know that I love sharing reviews with you in my Beauty Talk series.
Last week, I picked up sone new products for Fall, in prep for the Project Beauty Event I am hosting this Thursday at Neiman Marcus in Downtown Dallas (more details below). I wanted to find some new moisturizers to incorporate into my fall/winter routine as well as some new makeup.
Just like our wardrobe, your skin care routine should also change with the season. With colder temps coming our way, skin tends to become more dry and appear dull. It's so important to hydrate all year, but especially in the upcoming season. I have used Kiehls for many years and recently got a sample of the Daily Reviving Concentrate and Midnight Recovery Concentrate. I loved it so much I wanted to get a larger size. This duo is nice for those who like to stick with the same brand for morning and night. So what do these do for your skin? The Daily Concentrate is super hydrating (but doesn't make your skin look oily) and is provides antioxidant protection. I find that it helps my makeup go on smoother and oddly ...

Beauty Talk | Spring Neutrals
Now that Spring is here, this warmer weather already has me wanting to change up my makeup routine and switch out some of my winter colors for some warm, neutrals tones.
For me, I have always gravitated towards a more "natural" look when it comes to makeup. I like to keep my foundation and eyes simple, and play up areas like my lashes, cheekbones and lips. This past weekend I went through my makeup to switch out some of my winter colors with more neutral and warm tones. I decided to head to Nordstrom's Online Beauty Department (with free shipping / free returns it's hard to pass up!) and peruse the new neutrals for Spring. I love checking out the seasons new colors and this year, I decided to add lots of ivory, pink and gold tones. They make it so easy to browse specific selections rather than hunt the entire beauty department.
Here are a few of my favorite neutrals for Spring and Summer. See below for a full review of each product!
Foundation
My first step when transitioning my makeup is finding the right shade of foundation. I usually try something a little darker than my Winter face makeup. It's important for me to look for something that has SPF in it. I love to be outside as much as possible during this time of year!
Eyes
On my eyes, I tried the Bobbi Brown Long Wear Cream Eyeshadow in 'Beach Honey'. I ...
Beauty Talk
I always like when I have the opportunity to try new products. You really don't know what works best until you give it a shot right? Well, I was recently introduced to a few new products that have me hooked. The Complexion Rescue by Bare Minerals, is one of my new favorites for every day. I was actually a little apprehensive to try this, only because I usually like a little more coverage in my foundation. To my surprise, this has a really nice, medium coverage. I had a little sample that I used during my trip to New York and was amazed at how long my makeup stayed on. I loved it so much that I went to buy more last night! Studies have shown that this foundation not only acts as a moisturizer, but it improves skin hydration drastically. I also love that it has SPF 30...major plus! I also use the Bare Skin Powder to set the look.
I have never been huge fan of eyelash curlers, they scare me a little, but that all changed when I found this one by Shiseido. I have read tons of reviews and people seem to love this eyelash curler. I would never spend 20 bucks on something like this, but after reading so many positive comments, I decided to give it a try. I am so impressed! It really works ...
Beauty Talk | Travel Essentials
As much of a product junkie that I claim to be, I do like to keep it light when traveling. You wont find me packing my entire makeup collection in an already stuffed suitcase. Let's be real, I like to stick to the essentials. This pallet by Urban Decay is a major space savor. I've been on the hunt for a good pallet and when I saw that they were releasing the "Naked On the Run" pallet back in December, I got pretty excited. I like that it has practical colors for everyday, while also giving some shades that can give you a smokey eye. I even use the matte brown to touch up my brows. Major bonus that the mascara and eyeliner are actually good too! The lipgloss it comes with is pretty, but I like something a little more pink. So I went with two of my favorites from NARS (Lodhi Satin Lip Pencil and Turkish Delight..a winning combo!) I always take a few makeup brushes with me that are the most versatile for the products I use. To take my makeup off, I use these Say Yes Wipes. They are so easy to travel with and they get all my makeup off. I love not having to worry about a spill in my Truffle Makeup Bag. Anyone else been there before? Beauty Talk | Makeup Essentials
Scarf | Earrings | Watch
My beauty routine is really quite simple. However, I am convinced that it's the products I use that make it so easy. As a self proclaimed "beauty junkie", I've had my fair share at testing out new brands and trying different cosmetics. I guess that's what I get after spending 6 years working at a beauty shop during high school and summers of college! After posting the picture above, I was surprised to have received so many emails and comments about my makeup and beauty routine. Thank you guys for all of your questions & comments!
Below is a list of my daily must haves and what I was wearing in the photo above. xx
1. Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation (color 4.25) This is a great foundation for normal/oily skin. I like that its light, but still gives great coverage. The Foundation Brush is the best brush ever! I never have to deal with bristles coming our and it makes my foundation look so smooth. Highly recommend. I wear this over my Chanel Hydrating Beauty Cream.
2. Bobbi Brown Loose Finishing Powder (color Pale Yellow) I really like this powder. My skin is oily, but I notice that certain ...
Beauty Talk | NYE Makeup
Now that NYE is a couple of days away, I wanted to share a fun makeup tutorial for a night on the town. My daily routine is usually pretty simple. But since the holidays are here, I like to make for a more dramatic look. Here is a fun and simple way I like to glam up my holiday look!
I used the following products:
MAC Studio Fix Liquid Foundation in NC25 // Bobbi Brown Foundation Brush // Benefit Fake Up Concealer in Light // MAC Eyeshadow in Nylon // MAC Blush in Tenderling // Lorac Behind The Scenes Eyeshadow Primer // MAC Lipstick in Dangerous // Stila Liquid Eyeliner // Lancome Hypnose Mascara // Makeup Forever Mist & Fix // Anastasia Contour Kit & Brow Duo (color Taupe)
Cheers! xx
Beauty Talk | Winter Skin Care
Every year, I work harder to take better care of my skin. I try to do all the "necessary" things my dermatologist recommends. I drink a lot of water (I should drink more), wash my face every night before I go to bed, and always use moisturizer. However, now that I am getting closer to my 30's, I notice my skin's texture and appearance changing. Obviously that stuff is going to happen with age, but I am wanting to do what I can to keep my skin looking hydrated and clean. Who doesn't right?
Since the freezing temperatures aren't helping, I decided I needed to switch up my normal skin care routine. I usually use the Kate Somerville face wash and cream (love them) but I needed something a little more hydrating for this time of year.
My skin is combination/sensitive, so I knew this wasn't going to be as easy. My face seems to break out with anything these days! After doing tons of research and reading many positive reviews, I decided to give the Chanel Mousse Douceur face wash and the Hydra Beauty Creme a try. These weren't the most "budget friendly" so I was pretty skeptical at first, but after using them for a week I could already tell a difference in my skins appearance and texture.
I love the consistency of the Mousse ...
