The perfect start to any makeup routine is a good base. I always use moisturizer or oil to give my face some hydration, but I also found out that it actually helps keeps my makeup on longer. Who knew? This CAUDALIE Beauty Elixir is one of my favorite ways to moisturize and give my makeup some extra lasting power. After I wash my skin, I spritz two pumps on my face. You can use before or after makeup, but I prefer before since it's packed with the finest ingredients to help smooth skin and tighten pores. I absolutely love this stuff but if you need a little more hydration or SPF be sure to apply after you use the elixir.
Let's talk coverage. To be honest, I have a love/hate relationship with foundation. It either looks to "cakey" or doesn't cover at all. Finally, I have found a happy medium. This Natural Performance Foundation by Lorac gives just the right amount of coverage and seems to stay on pretty good through out the day. (I always test my makeup after a day on the playground or carpool duty, if it can make it through that then it can make it through anything!)

Beauty Talk | Pastels for Spring
Some people collect stamps, I collect nail polish. I am pretty sure this habit stems back to the good old days of working in the Beauty Shop during my high school days and throughout college. I would literally buy every new color that hit our shelves. Since I've left the salon, the habit still goes on.
I can't help but be drawn to pastels colors during Spring time. I love the soft, feminine look against my skin. I've narrowed it down to some of my favorite oldies and newbies.
OPI- Mimosas for Mr. and Mrs This color has always been a favorite of mine. Not only is the color the perfect milky pink, but the name is pretty cute too. This is a color that everyone should own and not just save for Spring and Summer. I've been known to wear soft pinks year round. Something about a soft pink just screams "chic".
ESSIE- Rock the Boat When I saw this color on the shelf it stood out in such a fun way. But I was a little apprehensive to wear such a daring color. I tried it anyways and I kid you not, it's the one that I get the most compliments on. I love wearing it! It's a fun way to break up the normal and still keep it age appropriate. Go Ginza is another pretty lavender. I love the chalky color, especially with a little sun. Tarte Deco is my absolute favorite coral ...
Beauty Talk | Neutral Tones
Spring is here and so are new beauty trends. Natural and nude tones are so hot right now. Of course you will see pops of pink, but these nudes are the way to go.
I have always been a fan of Butter London products. Their "Lippy" lip gloss is super pigmented and has some amazing lasting power, but I'm a bigger fan of their nail polishes. This color,Yummy Mummy, is so pretty! It's the right shade of "nude" and looks great on all skin tones. I was skeptical at first... worried it would look blah against my skin tone, but it's perfect! I can't pull off a nude lip, but this is as close as it gets! I pair Nars Lipstick in Viva Las Vegas with Chanel LÈVRES SCINTILLANTES in #87 for the perfect soft pink. I'm always impressed with Nars and Chanel but when layered, they really do have quite the effect. Like most of you, I want my lipstick to actually stay on for more than an hour. When I wear these together, I get just that!
If you haven't tried Jo Malone yet, I highly suggest it! At least go in to Nordstrom or Neimans and get a sample. You won't regret it. Jo Malone is all about layering scents. My go to combo is Blackberry & Bay cream with Lime Basil and Mandarin perfume.

Beauty Talk | Kate Somerville
Right now, I am focusing on getting the healthiest skin possible. I Clarisonic three times a week, use Glam Glow (review coming soon!) and now I am trying Kate Somerville. This is a brand you need to know! Skin care is a huge part of my daily routine and I am always on the hunt for the latest and greatest in the skin care world. Everyone has unique skin, and Kate has developed a variety of products all based on different skin types. Using top-of-the-line ingredients, she ranks very high in the industry.
After experimenting with her different products, I found these to be the ones that worked best for me. The Purify Clarifying Cleanser is amazing. It's a cream based cleanser and totally removes every last trace of makeup. It's soft and gentle so it doesn't irritate my skin. The Nourish Daily Moisturizer is super light and gentle. I only use one pump and it is enough to cover my entire face. I like it because it contains Vitamin A, C and E, Retinyl and antioxidants to keep skin healthy and smooth. I still struggle with breakouts so this light-weight formula is great for my combination skin. Every item in Kate's skincare line has been developed in the Clinic, scientifically tested, and ...
Beauty Talk | Think Pink
Beauty Talk is one of my favorite series on The Teacher Diva. While I love the fashion, I also love reviewing beauty and skin care products and giving you all feedback. I guess it stems back to my years working in a beauty salon and constantly working with customers to help them find the best products for their skin and hair. I loved researching and trying everything! It was such a fun job and now I am excited I get to share my favorites with you guys.
A trend that is so hot for Spring this year is pink! While I may not have a ton of pink in my wardrobe, I do have a lot in my makeup bag. I just picked up this YSL Lipstick in color #9 and I can't stop wearing it. It looks a little mauve-y in these pictures, but it really is a great pink. The guy at the makeup counter said "It's the most flattering shade and looks great on all skin tones". Of course that sold me instantly, but when I tried it, I completely agreed! I have also worn it with the YSL Golden Gloss in #49 for a brighter pop of color.
For the nails, I love Zoya Nail Polish in Barbie (wore it when I got engaged so of course it's my favorite!) and ...
Beauty Talk | Skinperfect Primer
There are many great things you can do for your skin. Establishing a solid routine and finding quality products is key. Dermalogica is a skin care brand I have used and trusted for years.
The AGE Smart® line contains advanced ingredients proven to impact the major biochemical reactions that contribute to skin aging before they start, so your skin is left smoother, firmer and healthier (everything I want for my skin!). I've used the Skin Resurfacing Cleanser and knew I would love the Skinperfect Primer just as much. The primer not only keeps my makeup on, but it's actually good for my skin. It has SPF and Soy Protein to help smooth out skin and fine lines. The primer also has a subtle tint from natural minerals that add a little extra coverage to keep my skin looking clear.
This is super easy to use. After applying your moisturizer, smooth and blend over entire face and throat. The Skinperfect primer can be worn alone or underneath make-up to extend wear. Bloom Lash Boutique is my favorite supplier for all things Dermalogica. For more information about Dermalogica products, be sure to contact Amber at Bloom Lash Boutique.
Beauty Talk | Mythic Oil
I don't know about you guys, but my hair has been going through a major dry spell due to this crazy winter weather. I have used oils and serums but nothing has done the trick quite like Mythic Oil. Loreal Professional has always been a favorite of mine. You may remember when I posted about the Intense Repair Shampoo & Conditioner, here. When my stylist, Liz, used these in my hair, I was amazed. And I know you're probably thinking, "Well who isn't amazed when they leave the salon?", but really. I've used them at home and I am still rockin' the same results I got at the salon. Mythic Oil has a few products from this line, but my two must haves are the Spray Milk and the Masque. The Spray Milk is used to smooth and detangle. It leaves my hair so soft without weighing it down. The best part, use wet or dry! The Masque is divine. I only use this once every 8-10 days. I leave it in for 7-10 minutes while showering, and use my shower cap to keep it nice and warm. Then voila! My hair is so buttery soft and frizz free. I highly ...
Beauty Talk | Clarisonic
For months, I had been debating on purchasing the Clarisonic Mia. It's not exactly budget friendly, so I wanted to do some research and make sure this was right for me. I read a plethora of reviews, watched several videos, and finally decided to give it a shot. I have been using it for the last couple weeks and I am already obsessed. My face is so soft! I use my Clarisonic 4-5 times a week...usually at night. I start by taking off my makeup with Say Yes To Cucumbers Facial Wipes, then proceed to use the Clarisonic with my Purity Face Cleanser by Philosophy. I can honestly say it has improved my skin texture and leaves my face super clean. The best part, is that Clarisonic makes special brush heads for every skin type. I have sensitive skin, so I use Delicate Brush Head and it works great. My skin thanks you, Clarisonic!

Beauty Talk | Josie Maran
When I first saw the Josie Maran Argon Oil in Sephora, I thought it would be a great product for my hair. I am always looking for new products for my hair and I love oils and serums. Recently, I was introduced to this light version. One of my good friends is huge fan of the oil and actually uses it as a face moisturizer. Personally, I have always struggled with oily skin, so the thought of putting an oil on my face made me cringe. After reading many reviews of satisfied people using this as a moisturizer, I had a change of heart. It. Is. AMAZING! The Josie Maran Argon Oil Light is perfect as a face moisturizer because it is lightweight and absorbs quickly. It did not leave an oily feeling at all. Love love love this product and can't wait to try more of the Josie Maran line at Sephora.
