Happy New Year! The arrival of the New Year always generates a "fresh start" feeling that motivates me to make virtuous goals and resolutions. While some of my resolutions may change from year to year, the reason I make these commitments is always the same. I am pretty much convinced that if I can achieve them, I'll feel that much more satisfied. The trouble is, I always proceed to set unrealistic resolutions that I ultimately fail. This year, mine are simple and easy. Bring it on 2014!
1. Find that work to life balance- This will be a tough one for me! My biggest weakness is time management and organization. I am determined to figure this out in 2014. Any advice is welcome!
2. Pray more- Austin and I have a goal to pray together everyday. This is something we do and value in our relationship, but it's not as often as we'd like. Over the holidays, his Grandmother told us the key to a successful marriage is to pray with your husband everyday. Considering she's had 50+ years of happiness, I'll take her up one that.
3. Start the home buying process- ahh, scary!
4. Travel- one of my favorite things to do. I love seeing new places and meeting new people. I look forward to the travels of 2014!
5. Create healthy habits- I never get enough sleep, I hardly exercise and I love candy. That's a bad combination right there.... tackling this one asap!
I hope you all have a blessed 2014 ...

Goodbye 2013
I hope everyone had a fun and safe NYE. As I look back on 2013, I feel very grateful. Austin and I celebrated our first wedding anniversary, we re-decorated our home, traveled, and created wonderful memories with our friends and family. I hope this new year brings you joy and love. Happy Monday! This past week we have been dog sitting for my parents. I have LOVED every minute of it because that means I get to take care of my parent's dog, Missy. She's the pup we got when I was a freshman in college so she isn't technically mine, but I still refer to her as my dog. My little brother, Drake would strongly disagree. Austin and I currently do not have any pets, so this totally feeds my desire to become a pet owner. However, it also reminds me of the huge responsibility and time it takes to have a dog. While I absolutely love dogs, it's just not the right time for us. However, pet-sitting for a week is perfect. Here are a few shots from a trip to the park with this sweet Boston Terrier, Missy.
Hayden Reis Bags
Recently, I was introduced to Hayden Reis. An amazing company that makes durable bags from sail cloth. I knew right away this was a brand I would love. Hayden Reis makes bags in a variety of colors and sizes with many customizable options. They are all made with sail cloth and are waterproof making it perfect for any use. I decided to go with the Big Island Black and Siesta Sand White tote. I also added a personal touch with a little monogram. This bag is perfect for traveling or shopping and it has plenty of pockets inside to help you stay organized too. Can't wait to use this at the beach this summer!

Buffalo Check
When I wear basics, my favorites include a silk blouse, skinny ripped jeans, and some heels. I love to incorporate a bold piece that makes the outfit standout. The Buffalo Check has to be one of my favorite trends this season. I love plaid in general, but this bold print takes the cake. I always feel that plaid is a print that looks great alone, or mixed with another print like leopard or stripes. I have had my eye on this Buffalo Check Peacoat from J Crew and was able to snatch it up (at 30%!) at the Gifting Event last Friday. Unfortunately, it is sold out in almost every size, but below I have pulled some similar options! Enjoy!!

Beauty Talk | Josie Maran
When I first saw the Josie Maran Argon Oil in Sephora, I thought it would be a great product for my hair. I am always looking for new products for my hair and I love oils and serums. Recently, I was introduced to this light version. One of my good friends is huge fan of the oil and actually uses it as a face moisturizer. Personally, I have always struggled with oily skin, so the thought of putting an oil on my face made me cringe. After reading many reviews of satisfied people using this as a moisturizer, I had a change of heart. It. Is. AMAZING! The Josie Maran Argon Oil Light is perfect as a face moisturizer because it is lightweight and absorbs quickly. It did not leave an oily feeling at all. Love love love this product and can't wait to try more of the Josie Maran line at Sephora.

Holiday Sweater Cardigan
I love a good cardigan. Being a teacher, that probably doesn't surprise you, but I love to wrap myself in a cozy sweater or cardi. Typically, I try to find cardigans that are long enough to wear leggings or those really skinny jeans. I also like them to be a tad oversized. Obviously, it was easy for me to fall in love with this Holiday Sweater Cardigan from Shop Bella C. It's so soft and perfect to throw on when going out and about. With the temperatures constantly changing in Dallas, I want pieces that will be easy to throw on and layer. Can't wait to wear this throughout the season!
