For every season there are a handful of key wardrobe pieces that can make your world go around. Some are basic finds while others can make more of a statement. Finding your signature pieces can be somewhat of trial and error but to help guide you, Zady has just launched their Essentials Collection.
You may remember Zady from my post here, and if not, I am excited to introduce you to this amazing brand. Zady is an online boutique featuring unique products hand made by artisans from all over the world. Their primary focus is to be able to provide quality and sustainable products that will last. You know, the button down shirt you can wear year round, or a timeless wool coat for the winter. As for me, this classic sweater is perfect for this time of year. Whether its layered or worn alone, it's a great investment piece that will last year after year.
Being someone who loves wardrobe staples, The Essentials Collection is my favorite yet. I've worn their .02 T-Shirt for months now, and am impressed with how it holds up wash after wash. I recently got their

Classic Skinny Jeans
I'll be the first to admit that I am extremely picky when it comes to denim (and I'm willing to bet some you would agree). Not only do I pay close attention to the fit, but I now look for quality over quantity. I've never been one who needed a plethora of jeans. I tend to find 3 or 4 that I really love and rotate those week after week.
Lately, I have been looking at brands like AG, Current Elliot and J Brand. I've worn AG for years, but recently started trying newer brands like Current Elliot and J Brand. Nordstrom has a wide assortment of all brands and styles, but I found this classic skinny fit by AG to be the perfect match. The soft blue wash is a great color for just about anything. I also love how they are tight around the ankles (perfect for booties) and keep a snug fit throughout the day.
I also love this pair of distressed skinny jeans. The gently worn in wash and subtle tears really make for the perfect pair. I wear them all the time and they are one of the best fitting jeans I own. While the price tag is a little high, they really make up for it with the quality ...
Over the Knee
Purchasing these over the knee boots last fall has been a great investment. I was honestly a little hesitant considering they are far more dramatic than my normal everyday wear, but I have been very surprised about the ease of an OTK boot.
Pulling off a tall boot doesn't have to be hard. The key is to stick with simple styles that help establish a long, lean silhouette. Personally, I like to pair them with jeans or leggings and an oversized sweater or poncho. For the appearance of longer legs, wear them with black pants or leggings. You may laugh, but it's crazy how this really works (especially when wearing these).
I also love these flat boots (similar under $200) as they are more practical for day to day wear. Not to mention they are really comfortable! Either way, you can't go wrong.
Have you tried over the knee boots? What are your favorite styles?

Cozy Layers
Happy Friday! Today, I am heading off to Denver for my friends 30th birthday. I've never been to Denver before, but from what I hear, it's a pretty neat place. I am going with a few of the girls I used to teach with, so I am looking forward to catching up and spending some quality time with them.
While this is a short trip, I want to pack things that are versatile and functional. After all, it is much colder in Denver than Dallas (which I am so excited about) and sweaters are a must. I immediately thought back to this cozy, layered look from last week.
This cowl neck poncho might be my favorite sweater I own. Not only is this one the perfect neutral color, but the oversized shape is exactly what I’m looking for. This is one of those sweaters that can be worn with stripes, neutrals or brights, so it's pretty versatile. I found it at Modcloth after searching for a plaid blanket scarf (they have so many under $25) and knew it was something I would wear all season long. Oh, and if you're looking for a new coat, this one is also noteworthy!
Layers like this are a go-to for me and will definitely get me through a chilly Colorado ...
Fall in Dallas
Things are finally starting to cool down around Dallas and I wanted to share with your some fun things to do in the DFW area with your friends or family. I love this season for many reasons, but nothing beats this weather. Here are a few fun activities to do outside this fall:
Autumn at the Arboretum
Going to the arboretum in the Fall is one of my favorite traditions. These photo's were actually taken at the Arboretum, however, it only shows a small part of what they have to offer. From the Pumpkin Village to the rose garden, it's a fun place to go with friends or family. There are plenty of places to eat inside, but you can also bring in food or drinks. Be sure to wear flats, it's a lot of walking!
Kylde Warren Park Food Trucks
Klyde Warren Park has always been a favorite of mine. Now that the weather has cooled off, it's a great place to check out. We love the food trucks (beware, it gets very busy!) and the dog park. The food trucks are open from 11:00-3:00 and sometime stay open later. Our favorite truck is The Butcher's Son. For a full list of things to do at the park, visit here.

Colorblock Tunic
Happy Friday! I've had a few requests for work wear, so I wanted to share a comfortable look that can be worn for both work or play. When I was teaching, these pants were my go to. They are very comfortable and while denim, still kept a professional appeal. I loved pairing them with long cardigans since my classroom was notoriously cold.
This colorblock tunic is also a great transition piece. I am a huge fan of neutrals and I love the oversized fit. I actually bought this for my Mom and ended up leaving with one for me too! Funny how that works.
Do you have any fun plans this weekend? My husband and I are headed to a little lake retreat with a few couples from our Home Group at church. Though the forecast is predicting rain, I am so ready to head out to the country and spend time with our friends.
Have a great weekend & thanks for reading! xx

Fringed Cape
One of my favorite "fall essentials" is the cape (you can see how I've styled them over the past year here and here). This fringe cape caught my eye because it's a great layering piece that can be worn with skinny jeans or black denim (on sale).
I always like to layer capes over a lightweight sweater or t-shirt. They are an easy way to complete any outfit and a great transition piece. For me, capes are great this time of year because the Texas weather can be so unpredictable. I pretty much live in layers during the fall and this cape is no exception.

Fringe Details
With fringe being a huge trend this season, I couldn't help but feel the need to participate. While this fringe cardigan is a little out of my comfort zone, I thought it was too fun to pass up! I also love the idea of pairing it with a skirt or an all black ensemble.
I've had a few of you email asking if fringe is a "quick fad", or something we may see long term. I'm not at expert (by any means) but I do know that it was seen all over the runways during NYFW. Meaning we can expect to see fringe throughout 2016.
However, If you're not one to jump in feet first, I suggest starting with something small. Like a fringed ankle boot ( I also love these) or maybe a pair of heels. I have this bucket bag and I find that it has just the right amount of fringe. It goes with so much! Both are good options for those who don't want to fully invest in the trend.
What fringe pieces are you loving?
Quilted Vest & Riding Boots
It's a rare occasion that we need a ton of layers living in Dallas, but lately the weather has been perfect for pieces like this Quilted Vest and Lightweight Sweater. I have always loved these vests from J Crew. They are easy to throw on over a sweater, a plaid top or even paired with a girly skirt. I am looking forward to more chilly days in this vest and riding boots.
On a side note, you may have seen on my snapchat (name: the teacher diva) that we are in Florida this week. My husband is here for a work conference, and I am so happy I got to tag a long. In the past, I would have never been able to travel with him, but now that I can work remotely it's not a problem. While he's been in meetings all day, I have enjoyed working from our hotel room and spending some time by the pool. We are heading to Harry Potter World on Wednesday evening and spending Friday and Saturday at Disney World. I'm so excited! I have never been to either before, so please feel free to send us some suggestions or recommendations for places to see or eat... I love hearing from you guys!

Tan Striped Scarf
Happy weekend everyone! I have been a little absent the past few days, and wanted to share a perfect look for transitioning to fall. This scarf has been one of the best accessories. I couldn't believe it was a Forever 21 find! I have worn it so many times and am always impressed with the quality.
It was perfect to wear while traveling home from New York this morning. I was up there for the final festivities of Fashion Week and to shoot for a campaign I'm working on that will launch this Fall. I can't wait to share it with you in the next few months.
Hope you guys have a restful weekend and thanks for stopping by!
