One of the most important things I've learned in the last week is how important it is to talk to our children about race, and not just diversity but what racism means and looks like. Specifically what it means to be anti-racist, privileged and what implicit biases are. Those might seem like adult concepts, but as studies have shown, it's never too early to start talking to your kids about them.
For anyone looking to get started doing this along with Austin and I, I've compiled some amazing resources and books. From black voices and leaders on Instagram to children's books and helpful articles, everything below should help you start having these necessary conversations in your home. ...

Should I Be Using Retinol?
There's one question I see and hear women asking beauty bloggers, estheticians, dermatologists and the like over and over again: should I be using retinol? I honestly get this question so frequently that I thought I'd finally put down some thoughts about it because, in my experience, the answer usually isn't one size fits all. ...
10 Low-Carb Snack Options We Keep In The House
If you follow me on Instagram Stories or are in my private Facebook Group (request to join and I'll accept you!), you know I've been pretty open about our F-Factor journey and what Austin and I have done to lose weight and make healthier choices. Our goal this year was to shed a few extra pounds and actually stick with this as a lifestyle. A lot of you have requested "grab and go" snacks that would support a low-carb/high fiber diet, so I wanted to share what we keep on hand. ...
15 Businesses Owned by Black Women
Today I want to highlight a handful of women run Black-owned businesses that create and sell a variety of beautiful, high-quality products. While it's always important to diversify where you shop, it's more crucial now than ever with a disproportionate amount of Black-owned businesses being negatively affected by Covid-19. The most recently available Federal Reserve data shows that black business owners are denied loans at twice the rate of white owners, so they are more likely to have trouble finding capital to survive the pandemic, among endless other unfair statistics. ...
4 Sources for Good Faux Houseplants
One of my favorite memories over the last year is photographing our home and sharing it piece by piece with all of you (check out our black and white office tour). This house was a major labor of love and all the praise we've received for it has blown me away! Of course I can't take all the credit because Ginger from Urbanology Designs is the true mastermind behind it. I'm excited to keep sharing more details, especially as I add small touches here and there to really make it feel like us. I've tried to document as much as I could with the #AshleyAtHome tag on Insta. ...
How to Make a House a Home
As most of you know, Austin and I built and designed the home (with lots of help, of course) that we live in. And while getting the perfect paint color, choosing fixtures, designing the outdoor patio space, etc were all important aspects of the home, one thing we wanted to keep in mind was the feel of the home. I love looking at interiors and architecture, but a lot of the time, the homes don't look liveable. They are gorgeous but not realistic, at least not for us. ...
8 Slides to Wear in Or Out of the House
It seems like forever ago that I shared the only sandals I'm buying for summer, and let's just say I had to change up my thinking a bit. While I'm still all about those trends listed (and dying to wear them, TBH), the only thing actually being worn lately are slippers and slides. I'm trying to step my game up by reaching for slides rather than slippers every. single. day., and even a little shift like that makes me feel more pulled together. I may be in sweats 99% of the time, but at least I'm also wearing a more chic shoe, right? ...
The Sephora VIB Sale Just Started — Here’s What You Need to Know
The big Sephora sales are few and far between and if you are itching to update your beauty routine, now is the time to shop. Sephora just kicked off their Spring Savings Event and giving Rouge members first access to get 20% off their total purchase. But not to worry if you aren't a Rouge member -- beauty Insiders and VIB members will still have a chance to shop later this week. ...
The Shopbop Spring Sale Just Started — Here’s What’s In My Cart
Ahh it's that time again -- The Shopbop Spring Sale just started and I'm loading my cart with strappy sandals, denim and a pair of sunglasses or two. You know, the essentials. With code SPRING, you can save up to 25% on all of your favorite brands.
I love a good sale just as much as you, but in all honestly, this and the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale are really the only ones that get me excited. Ok, and maybe the Sephora VIP Sale (any other beauty junkies out there?) but that's it. ...
A Weekend in Austin: Things to do, Where to Eat, and My Favorite Hotels
We went to Austin a few weeks ago and had the best time exploring the city. Being in Dallas, we aren't too far away from Austin...I don't know why we don't go more often. It's a great place for a girl's trip, weekend getaway with your partner or family. We should definitely go there more! ...
