There's nothing quite like a week with your toes in the sand and sea salt in your hair. I wanted to share a few pictures from our family vacation last week. We stayed in a sweet little beach house right along the water. We usually travel to the Sea Side area in Florida, so this was our first time to Gulf Shores and Orange Beach. The weather was great and the water was even better. (to see more of our pictures check out my instagram under #robertsonbeachbums) Until next time!

Mixing Prints
Mixing prints is nothing new, but when it comes to leopard + stripes, I can't help but get excited. The ease of throwing on stripes and mixing it with a bright or bold print always sounds appealing. The best thing about stripes is that pretty much any pattern looks good with it. Whether you go camo, floral, leopard or polka dot, it's all good with stripes.
This striped maxi (another version) is a favorite summer staple of mine. I have literally worn it all summer long since it's perfect for travel, super soft and easy to throw on and go. To mix it up, pair the dress with this bright scarf and these sandals for a casual yet sophisticated look. You really can't go wrong with a classic piece like this!

Beauty Talk | Sun Care
After spending the past 8 days at the beach, I figured it was only fitting to squeeze in a little sun care 101 into this weeks Beauty Talk. For years we have been told to pile on the SPF before heading out into the sun, but have we all followed this rule?
I have to thank my mom (who has great skin I should add) for always making me wear SPF 75+ growing up. Yes, I would roll my eyes because all my friends would spread pure oil on their bodies to get that real golden tan. I always wanted to get that tan. I laugh now, because that is pretty ridiculous and not to mention dangerous. I'm not perfect in this area, but I can say I try my best to take care of my skin and hair when in the sun.
Sun Bum is a skin care brand that I have used and always go back to. My favorite is the Sun Bum Face Stick with SPF 30. It's oil free and hypoallergenic. My face is pretty sensitive, so it was important to find something that wouldn't irritate my skin or cause breakouts. I thought that I needed more than SPF 30 for my face but after attending a few workshops focusing on SPF awareness, I realized it's not necessarily the amount, but how often you apply. You can't just put on your sunscreen in the morning and forget about it for the rest of the day. You have to be conscious to remember to reapply. I take a
Leather Details
When it comes to Summer dressing, leather usually isn't the first to come to mind. Light and breezy layers, rolled up shorts and my favorite sandals are at the top of my list. However, this Vegan Leather Panel Top has me rethinking leather for Summer. I scooped this top (now on sale!) up a few months ago from Anthropologie and have not stopped wearing it. Since the fabric is light and the leather is perforated, it makes for the perfect Summer-Fall top. I love a top that is versatile throughout the year.

Black Lace
I used to think that wearing all black was overwhelming, however my mind has changed since I found these black lace shorts. I wanted a look that would be nice for a night out and decided to mix shades of black with this Equipment Silk Blouse and this black blazer (now on sale) to throw on later. I like the idea of sticking to one color palette, but this would work just as well with a white blouse or dressed down with chambray and flats.

Summer Layers
Layers shouldn't limit themselves only to Fall. Pairing lightweight fabrics and breezy materials with stylish separates is a great way to transition from the heat to the air-conditioning. Even in Dallas, I find myself reaching for an airy scarf or lightweight cardigan. This is one of my favorite looks because it can easily be worn from work to play or vice versa. Old Navy has an amazing selection of Summer Cardigans and layers for Summer. How do you layer during this season?

Weekend Casual
If you ask me, the best look for a weekend outside is something casual and comfortable. With the weather being so nice, we were excited to spend most of our time outdoors. I wanted to throw something on that was easy to wear and still look "put together". It was an easy choice to wear my favorite white button down and denim rolled up shorts. It's one of my favorite combos and something that is a classic look for summer.
