Happy New Year guys! There are two things I love most about winter fashion: cozy sweaters and swing coats. We have definitely been feeling the icy chill in the Dallas air these past few days and I was pretty excited for the chance to wear some of my favorite coats. Usually, I stick with a basic black or tan coat, but I felt like trying something new with this Blue Swing Coat (under $100).
The color was so perfect and it goes with just about anything. After looking at these pictures, I've decided I want to wear it with winter whites. I think the cool tones will compliment each other nicely. Big thanks to my husband, Austin for spotting this while we were at Nordstrom last week. He usually doesn't shop with me (ok, never!) but I guess he was in the holiday spirit while picking up some last minute gifts. Oh and it doesn't hurt that it was on sale either! See more of their coat sale here. Happy shopping! xx

Holiday Events in Dallas
I love living in Dallas. I've lived here since I was 12, and each year, more and more opportunities come to Dallas to make this city even more exciting. I know a lot of you live in the area, and some of you have emailed me saying you were traveling here for the holidays. I always get asked about dining, shopping, and entertainment so I figured I'd share some of my favorite places to go while in the city for the holidays. Most of these are family friendly so feel free to bring on the kids! Happy Holidays! xx
1. Highland Park Village This has always been one of my favorite spots in Dallas. During the holidays they have every tree (more like branch) lit up with beautiful white lights. It's so gorgeous! Each year, Austin and I have our "Christmas Date" here and we hit up Mi Cocina, Starbucks then drive through the neighborhoods to look at lights and jam to Christmas tunes. While I visit the village often, this is probably my favorite date that we have and I look forward to it every year. The shopping is pretty fabulous too!
2. The Carriage Rides at Highland Park Village While you're in Dallas, why not take a festive horse drawn carriage to take you through the neighborhoods of Highland Park. Sit back and sip on some hot cocoa as you look at all the lights and homes decorated for the holidays! My family has done this before and it was so much fun ...
Plaid Cardigan
Tis the season for festive colors and holiday sweaters. Am I right? Now, I'm not usually one for the whole "Christmas Sweater" look, unless of course it's to a party, but I do believe there's a nice way to spice up your look to give it a "holiday" vibe. This plaid cardigan (only $23!) was the perfect compromise. I love the waterfall in the front and the length in the back. I can't wait to wear this with leggings and Uggs next to the fire tomorrow night! I hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas!

Holiday Sweater
Hello, Monday! Over the weekend, Austin and I took part in the hustle and bustle of the holiday season. Have any of you been last minute shopping? While, fighting mall traffic is not ideal, it's all part of the experience. We had a few last minute gifts to pick up and it's the only time I can get Austin to the mall so I was not about to complain. I really do love getting out this time of year, even if it is just a few days before Christmas. Everything is so festive and the decorations are gorgeous! I am going to be posting a Dallas holiday guide soon, so be sure to check back tonight as I share my favorite things to do in the Dallas metroplex for the holidays.
This Red Sweater from Chicwish is the perfect look for the holidays. I love the fit and color. I threw on this plaid scarf (only $28) with my over the knee boots (my favorite pair, sold out in tan only black available) to give the look a more festive vibe. I am also loving this version in green!

The Wrap Jacket
About a year ago, I was introduced to the sweet Morgan Hunt from A Treasure Hunt. Since then, I have enjoyed keeping in touch with her through social media and various Dallas events. I have especially loved watching Morgan launch her new clothing brand, Morgan James. Last August, I went to her fall preview and was amazed at her beautiful collection. Not only does Morgan have an eye for fashion, but each piece is proudly made in the USA!
This Wrap Jacket immediately caught my eye when I first saw her collection. It's a timeless piece, yet has a contemporary vibe with a draped front. The leather at the shoulder adds a nice touch too! Morgan doesn't want you to miss out on all the fun. She is offering all TTD readers 30% with code TEACHER30. This promo will last through 12/24. Be sure to check out her shop here!

Little Red Bag
This time of year always makes me want to be a little more festive with my attire. Whether its a fair isle sweater or red accessories, I can't say no! This little crossbody from Onna Ehrlich was the perfect solution for adding a little glam to my holiday looks. I loved pairing this bag with my Chicwish Faux Fur Vest (less than $50) and soft neutrals for a day of Christmas tree shopping and picking up a few last minute decorations. Austin and I are getting to decorate our house for the first time this year and we are pretty excited about it. Pictures to come! Have a great Monday! xx

Leather Jacket
Ever since I scooped up this faux leather jacket (on sale!), I have been anxiously awaiting the colder temps. Lucky me, this week has been a cold one. It's bizarre how Sunday was 80 degrees and Monday it was in the low 40's. Texas is crazy! However, I wasn't too upset as it was just an excuse to throw on this moto jacket and favorite boots.
This jacket is so soft that I was actually shocked to read it was vegan leather. I mean, even the texture looks like the real deal and for only 60 bucks, I couldn't pass it up. It was perfect for a casual night out and will definitely be on hand as the temperatures keep dropping.

Bundled for Fall
When it comes to fall fashion, there are three staples every girl should own: a great bag, a killer pair of boots, and a quality coat.
You'd think, as a teacher, summer would be the season I look forward to most. But fall has to be one of my favorite times of the year. I love the crisp air, the spicy candles and most importantly, the fashion. This is the time of year where your outerwear is more important than the rest of your outfit.
That's where this coat comes in to play. I immediately feel in love this belted wool coat by Talbots. It's so soft! The wool makes it warm enough for those cold, windy days, but it breathes enough for when the sun is out. And this grey color goes with just about anything. After being in New York and Boston this past January, I learned (the hard way) the importance of investing in a quality coat. Find a coat that makes you feel confident and one that fits well. For me, this one exceeded my expectations. After all, a coat is probably something you will wear weekly, if not daily. I can't wait to wear this throughout Fall and Winter!
