If there's one way to make any outfit festive, it's with plaid accessories. I've been wearing this plaid coat (size up) on many occasions but I find that a plaid scarf like this one is more versatile from day to day.
I've had this scarf for a while, and it's finally been cool enough to wear it. I love how it's warm, cozy and everything I want to be wearing on a cool December day.
I kept the look somewhat casual with a messy ponytail, funnel neck sweater and distressed denim. There's so many plaid scarf options online and I made sure to include my favorites (at all price points) below!
Also, thanks so much for the sweet comments regarding our home updates on snapchat and instagram. It was a process, but I am so happy to be 99% finished. I will be sharing the full home tour in January! You all are so sweet and thoughtful...thank you for stopping by! xx

Dressing for a Holiday Party
Looking for a festive ensemble to wear this holiday season? Leave it to Nordstrom to have your back with a variety of holiday dresses, sequined tops and patterned skirts perfect to wear to any party.
In my book, this is the most exciting time of the year. There's just something special about decorating the tree, hanging lights, and spending quality time with family. This year, Austin and I are looking forward to hosting our first ever Christmas party in our new home. We have been frantically working on finishing our home makeover, and while it's taken (much) longer than anticipated, we are so close to being done. Though, our party is a few weeks away and I have already started searching for a festive frock to wear that evening.
I'm not always a "red" person, but I made an exception when I saw this scalloped lace dress. I love the details and it's definitely holiday appropriate. To complete the look, I paired it with my bow tie blouse and favorite nude pumps.
If you're looking for something festive, but not as dressy, I suggest these Slim Jacquard Pants or this faux fur sweater vest. Both are versatile and easily something you could transition into a work or evening look.

Shearling Vest
Happy Friday! I am so looking forward to this weekend. And not because we have these exciting plans, but because I am able to tackle my ever growing list of things to do around the house. You may remember me talking about how we are dong some home updates, and we are almost done (whew). I can't wait to share the finished look with you in November! But this weekend, our goal is to hang the curtains in my office, build a shelf, measure for a gallery wall (any tips greatly appreciated...I am honestly dreading it), and pick out art. It will be busy, but hopefully productive!
Anyways, I wanted to share a cozy look with you that will be perfect to wear this fall and winter. One of my favorite purchases as of late has been this faux shearling vest (similar under $100). And while I haven't been able to wear it as much as I plan (love this Texas weather), I know it will come in handy in the next few weeks.
It’s a wear-with-anything kind of piece, and it’s absolutely perfect for winter layering. Just throw it on over a sweater or cardigan for extra warmth! We have a few trips planned to the lake this Fall and I can't wait to stay warm in this little vest. If this style isn't for you, I found more ...
Grid Blanket Cape
When it comes to Fall fashion, I love oversized sweaters, textured layers, and plaid prints. This cape has everything in one. From the soft fabric to the faux leather trim, it's a great sweater (and it's reversible).
Without hesitation, I knew this was a piece I wanted for my fall wardrobe. I had a similar one years ago and after wearing it over and over again, it was time to replace it and update the look!
Thanks for reading! xx
OUTFIT DETAILS: Trouve Grid Cape | Leggings (Ok, I love these pants/leggings! They are very thick, so they don't actually feel like a legging. They are also super slimming. Highly recommend!) | Topshop Lace Up Flats (ok, I was not impressed with these flats. After ...
Quilted Vest & Riding Boots
It's a rare occasion that we need a ton of layers living in Dallas, but lately the weather has been perfect for pieces like this Quilted Vest and Lightweight Sweater. I have always loved these vests from J Crew. They are easy to throw on over a sweater, a plaid top or even paired with a girly skirt. I am looking forward to more chilly days in this vest and riding boots.
On a side note, you may have seen on my snapchat (name: the teacher diva) that we are in Florida this week. My husband is here for a work conference, and I am so happy I got to tag a long. In the past, I would have never been able to travel with him, but now that I can work remotely it's not a problem. While he's been in meetings all day, I have enjoyed working from our hotel room and spending some time by the pool. We are heading to Harry Potter World on Wednesday evening and spending Friday and Saturday at Disney World. I'm so excited! I have never been to either before, so please feel free to send us some suggestions or recommendations for places to see or eat... I love hearing from you guys!

Beat of Your Drum
When WHBM asked for me to join them in their #BeatOfYourDrum campaign, I immediately knew this was something I wanted to be a part of. Aside from their beautiful new fall collection, this is a launch that is all about empowering others and sharing how you live to the beat of your own drum. What makes you, you!
Growing up, my parents always taught me to be true to myself and follow my dreams. They encouraged me to be confident, yet humble, and appreciate life's blessings both big and small. As an adult, I aim to carry those values daily. When I think about what it means to live to the beat of your drum, I immediately think of living life authentically and being true to yourself. Not giving in to what others do or say, and going after you dreams and passions.
How do I live to the beat of my own drum? Well, recently, I've started to take more chances. Many of you know this by my decision to take this blog full time. I used to let the fear of change scare me and hinder my ability to try new things. It wasn't until this last year when I learned to kick fear to the curb and take a leap of faith. Following my dreams one day at a time...or at least trying to!

At the Market
If only Dallas had flower markets like Seattle, am I right? Looking back at these photos from our trip to Seattle makes me miss this city even more. Like I said, we went to the market every day during our stay and I couldn't resist a $5 bouquet even if it did mean I would have to leave it behind. Cherry blossoms always remind me of our wedding and I couldn't say no.
I have been wearing this pink coat (under $40) so much since it's still chilly. It is such a steal and actually amazing quality for the price! See how I styled it with boyfriend jeans here. Happy Tuesday! xx
