Last month, Austin and I decided to treat ourselves to a little “staycation” at The Joule Hotel in Dallas. I just had finished Parent Teacher Conferences, and he just finished a big project at work so we decided we needed a little R&R. While I’ve stayed at the hotel before, it was only for a short bit. This time, we did things a little differently. We relaxed, had no schedule, and took time to enjoy all the amenities the hotel had to offer. It was so fun to be a tourist in our own city. We ate at new places, shopped in new stores and walked areas we’ve never seen. Every aspect of this hotel is unique: the rooms and the lobby are a just a few of my favorite parts that make up this cool hotel. Be sure to keep reading for the full scoop on this gorgeous downtown hotel, or head over to instagram to see pictures from our staycation!
Our first stop, was dinner at CBD Provisions. Some of our friends frequent this restaurant all the time, so we couldn’t wait to see what all the fuss was about. CBD Provisions is a modern Texas brasserie located in the heart of downtown Dallas. I loved that it was conveniently located right next to the hotel. We started off with the Kale Salad and loved every bite. Our main course included the TX Grass Fed Beef Burger, the House Made Rigatoni, Mac & Cheese and Hand Cut Fries. Needless to say, it was delicious and we’ve already been back since our trip last month.
Later that night, we ventured over to the new underground cocktail lounge, Midnight Rambler. Let’s just say, this place was the place to be. Midnight Rambler features a mix of one-of-a-kind vintage furniture pieces and includes brass bar tops, drawing on the mood of jazz, blues and rock n’ roll. We highly recommend the Soul Clap and the Hell Hound.
The next morning we wanted to try out Vital Fitness Studio. Neither of us had tried yoga before, but we were anxious to see what it was like. We took the Energizing Yoga class and while parts were tough (this was our first time) we actually really enjoyed it. Our instructor was great and took the time to help us with each pose and was very patient with us. We loved it! After our workout we stopped at Weekend Coffee. Austin loves good coffee, so I couldn’t wait for him to try it! I always get their iced coffee with almond milk and he tried the extra dark roast. It was too strong for me but he loved it.
That afternoon we had lunch and tea at the Taschen Library inside the Joule. This library was amazing! it was such a neat place to have a little tea party. The whole event lasted about an hour and we enjoyed every minute of it. Upon arrival, we were welcomed with champagne as the head chef came out and to explain the details of the pastries and teas. We highly recommend this as a fun thing to do with a group of 6 or 8 people, especially around the holidays! Visit here for the full menu. And trust me, come hungry. There is a lot of food and drinking!
Later that day we did a little shopping at some of the great boutiques located within walking distance from the hotel. TEN OVER SIX and TRAFFIC LA were our favorites! Overall, it was a great weekend and I highly recommend staying at The Joule when you’re in Dallas. Cheers! xx
