Up until the past few years, I never really carried makeup in my purse. Of course I had my go to lipstick and maybe a mirror, but that was about it. I realized as I started my career, that it was very typical for the other teachers to run and grab drinks or head to an early dinner after work.
I quickly found out that I needed a little refresh before heading out right after work. Like most of us, I don’t always have time to reapply everything, so I’ve found that all I need are a few key products to give my skin that healthy glow in a short amount of time.
I have always been impressed with YSL Beauty and I was so excited to try the new ‘Pop Water’ Collection (a Nordstrom exclusive). All of the colors are on point for Spring and Summer.
Here are the steps I that take me from desk to dinner in 10 minutes or less. I’d love to hear what you try!
Step 1
I’ve always struggled with oily skin. My dermatologist says I will be thankful for that, but for now, I am trying to cover up that excess oil. Whether you have oily skin or not, it’s always a good idea to blot and powder at the end of the day. I don’t know about you, but my face could use a little more coverage come 5 o’clock. This pressed powder by YSL is the key to keeping my skin refreshed. I used a powder brush to apply a light dusting on my nose, forehead and chin. I’ve also been told that this powder can be used as a brightener too. I always love dual-products!
Step 2
My favorite makeup product (ever) is the YSL Touche Eclat. I’ve used this product for the last 3 years and have continued to be happy with the results. You want to use this product last in your makeup routine. I have been told that this is the last thing you put on right before your lipstick. It’s intended to work as an under eye concealer or above the cheekbone brighter, but I use it for much more. It makes a great base for lipstick. I think it keeps my lipstick from fading and I love the nude pout it gives me. Keep in mind- a little goes a long way!
I also like to enhance the dip of my cupid’s bow (dip on upper lip) by accentuating the crease at the top of the lip with the Touche Eclat. This will illuminate the feature by bringing it forward and drawing attention to this area. This product is the best multi-tasker and key to giving me that “instant refresh”!
Step 3
Apply your favorite lippy. YSL has always been one of my go to brands for lipstick or lipgloss. When I heard Nordstrom was carrying the Pop Water Collection, I immediately went to check out the new Glossy Stain colors –they stay on for hours!
My goal was to find a good nude/coral for everyday and a fun pop of pink for when I want a bold lip. Mission accomplished! I went with 208 Wet Nude for a softer, subdued lip and 206 Misty Pink for a pop of color. I also like to mix colors, and I loved the way Gloss Volupte (#202 Rose Jersey) looked with the Misty Pink. (It also looks great alone too!)
Shop the Post: YSL Pressed Powder, ‘Pop Water’ Glossy Stain (colors 206 Misty Pink and 208 Wet Nude) , Touche Eclat (color #2), Gloss Volupte (color 202 Rose Jersey)
Wearing: Pink Blouse (color is Taffy Pink- image online does not reflect actual color) // Jeans (tts) // Ring (similar) // Bracelets and here // Watch
