Happy Friday everyone! I have been getting some requests to bring back my Beauty Talk series so I thought it would be fun to share with you some of my recent beauty buys- specifically for eyes and brows.
If you are new to my blog, you need to know I have a thing for makeup and skin care. While in high school and college I worked part time at a beauty salon and loved every second of it. I guess that’s where I picked up my love for products and desire to learn more about them and how they work on our skin!
I’m always looking to learn more and hear about your favorites so feel free to comment below!
I’ve had my eye on the Small York Cosmetic Case for a while, and finally pulled the trigger when my other case wore out. I love it! I was a little worried it wouldn’t fit everything, but I have been really happy with the structure and quality of this little bag. It fits the right amount for the girl on the go!
Let’s talk about brows. This has been the hardest part for me to “get right”. I just could not find the right color or tool to make my brows look full and natural. Natural being the key word there.
My sister in law, Megan, told me about Brow Wiz (on sale!) and raved about how it was amazing and really worked. I wasn’t so sure because the last time I used a pencil they looked super artificial and just not for me. After I saw her brows my mind was changed! I started reading reviews and found that Medium Brown was the color for me. I have never been happier with a brow product.
How to use it? The pencil goes on really soft, so the harder you push down the more color will show up. The small size also lets you draw little strokes to mimic tiny brow hairs. The brush at the end is what gives you the natural look because it blends everything together to create a soft and full look. Highly recommend!
A couple weeks ago, Nordstrom was doing their buy 2 get 1 free mascara sale. I always stick with my Lancome Hypnose Drama Mascara but I also remember trying Bobbi Brown Extreme Party (on sale!) and loving it. It never flaked or smudged so I decided to go back to it and give it a try (you can read more about my review on Extreme Party Mascara here). One of my friends that works at the Bobbi counter told me they always use Extreme Party with Smokey Eye and it gives super long and dramatic lashes. Well- sign me up right? Ok so I gave it a try and yes, it does make my lashes look amazing, but they are also around $26 each so that could get pricey to use both all the time. But, if you’re up for it, it really does make lashes look really long and thick.
Ok, so if you struggle with dark circles or are in need of some under eye brightening, this is for you. I have used these three products consistently for the last 2 months and I have been very pleased.
First, the Eye Duty Triple Remedy by First Aid Beauty is amazing. It is packed with retinyl palmitate and GABA that support skin’s natural collagen production to smooth away the look of fine lines and wrinkles. It also has caffeine and licorice root to help “depuff” tired eyes. The best part is that it comes in two colors (I use original) to help brighten as you use the product. I use this first, the follow with Well Rested CC Eye Primer.
Well Rested CC Eye Primer is a great product to use under eyes and on top of the eyelid for brightening and to help your makeup not crease. I love this product for many reasons but what makes it unique, is that when you put it on, it feels instantly cool. With aloe, caffeine, and a mineral blend, it recharges the skin around the eye and gives it an instant “lift”. You can wear alone or under makeup to extend the wear of eye color and concealer.
The third product that I add in the mix is the Well Rested Face and Eye Brightener. I love this stuff because it is so versatile. It can be used for eyes, face, or contouring.
How to use it? This is the last product I put on…over foundation and everything. I use this under my eyes and when I contour my face (I use this pin for reference on where to put the highlighter). It’s a great product to have and I find I use it all the time. It’s nice to have as a touch up too!
Last but not least, the best Make Up Setting Spray I have ever tried. I love this stuff because it comes out as a fine mist, not a harsh spray like others I have tried.
What does a makeup setting spray do? Well, this helps your makeup stay on and in place. I don’t know about you, but sometimes after a long day, I would find that my face looked oily or that my makeup didn’t look quite as fresh as it did when I first put it on. This spray helps with that! I would use this in the morning before work and it was surprising to see how my makeup still looked great after 8 hrs of working inside (and outside)!
