A few weekends ago, Austin and I celebrated his birthday by taking a little road trip down to Fredericksburg, TX. Though we’ve never been, it cam highly recommended by family and friends to visit this adorable town. Being only 4 hours from Dallas, this was the ideal distance for a quick trip. I wanted to share with your some of our favorite places to eat, stay and see while in Fredericksburg.
WHERE TO STAY
As this was our first trip to Fredericksburg, we really didn’t know what to expect. One of our friends highly recommended staying at The Hoffman Haus, and said we would love staying at this cozy bed and breakfast. We were so excited to check it out!
When booking your stay, keep in mind each cottage is different. Some are bigger for groups and others are small and quaint. Austin really wanted the feel of a cabin, so we decided to stay in Cottage #5 (which we loved and looked just like a log cabin). The best part, is each morning they deliver breakfast promtly to your porch at 9:00am. I figured it would be muffins and juice, but we were pleasantly surprised to see that it was a hearty spread. It was so yummy!
The location was the perfect distance to Main St. and we loved the beautiful property.
DINING
During our trip, we went to several great places. One of our favorite places to eat for dinner included Otto’s German Bistro. This restaurant offers farm to table German cuisine, in the heart of Fredericksburg. Austin had the seared scallops and I had the gnocchi, both very yummy.
I highly recommend Vaudeville for lunch. It’s a beautiful restaurant, but also has a wine cellar, furniture store and art gallery located inside. The food was amazing! I wish we could have tried this place for brunch, the coffee choices looked so good, but it was closed on Tuesday. Be sure to check the hours for the local restaurants and stores…we noticed a lot of places had unusual hours)
For a sweet treat, head over to Clear River. They make all of their ice cream in house, and have a variety of baked goods and food choices. This place is a must for ice cream!
We stopped at Tubby’s Ice House for lunch while we were in town. This little lunch spot is the perfect place for burgers or street tacos. A random combination, I know, but very delicious. We has the best time eating there. The fries were probably the best fries I’ve ever had (and I eat a lot of fries).
chanel classic flap (similar quilted flap purse for under $200)
We also went to a vineyard while we were there. I wish we could have done more, but our time was so short! We did however, enjoy our time at Grape Creek Winery. It was a beautiful property and we had a great experience! I’ll be sharing more photos from our trip to Grape Creek next week.
SHOPPING
We spent a few hours one day walking up and down Main Street. There are several restaurants, boutiques and various stores that are worth stopping by.

Really cute outfit. One thing I love about Texas is being able to do really quick trips in state but feel like I’m somewhere else. Adding this to my list.

Oh, neat! We just moved to San Antonio & I have been told that we need to visit Fredericksburg several times. It’s even cuter than I imagined! I really appreciate the lodging recommendation, too. 🙂
