Coffee Date with Kate

Hi everyone! I am so excited to share a few pictures and a fun interview I did with Kate from The Small Things Blog. She was in Dallas a few weekends ago, and Austin and I had the pleasure of meeting her downtown at Mercat Bistro.

This was my first time to meet her face-to-face, but after a few short minutes, it was like we’ve been long time friends. We talked about our favorite things, shared funny stories, and of course talked about all things hair! Chances are you know Kate, but if you don’t, you will quickly learn that she is a hair genius (seriously, I know you’ve seen her all over Pinterest). When it comes to tools, products, and tutorials, this girl has you covered!

We had so much fun sitting down and chatting with Kate. She is just so nice and genuine…I hope to work with her again soon!

Here are a few questions from our interview. Enjoy!

A: What Inspired You To Start Your Blog?

K: Well, I was a hair stylist for 10 years. I would teach my clients how to curl their hair and style it, but they would come back to me 6 weeks later and tell me they forgot how to do their hair. I wanted to create a resource for my clients to watch simple DIY hair videos. 

A: What Is Your Favorite Post You’ve Ever Done?

K: I did a post with Living Proof where I went through 5 different ways to boost confidence. I shared hair products, current clothing, and accessories that keep me feeling confident throughout the day. 

A: What Are Your Go-To Hair Products?

K: My absolute favorite hairspray in Kenra 25. I love it because you can layer it, and it can be firm or really light depending on how you use it. Another favorite of mine is the Amika Undone Texture Spray. It’s perfect for loose waves! If I could only bring two products with me on a trip, it would be those. 

A: Where Do You Like To Shop?

K: I love to shop at J Crew Factory. They have great sales and a classic style. I currently love this Striped Top and wear this Denim Jacket often. They are both so versatile! I also love AG Denim. This is my absolute favorite brand and style for jeans. 

A: I Love Your Green Vest…Details Please!

K: My green utility vest is a new find, and I am loving how easy it is to wear with so many pieces I currently own. It’s the perfect layering piece! 

A: What is Your Favorite Lipstick?

K: I like WAY too many different colors to have a favorite, but my most worn lately is Flocking Fabulous by MAC! It’s bold and a perfect mix of orange and red. It’s as if Cajun Shrimp, an iconic shade by OPI nail polish was turned into a lipstick! 

I had so much fun sharing that Q & A with you all! And like most of you, I am buying that Green Utility Vest asap.
