Happy Sunday friends! I have had several requests for an updated foundation review and I have been eager to share this one with you all. Typically, I wear a CC or BB cream as my foundation, but after trying the Double Wear Foundation (on sale) by Estée Lauder I am hooked. I can now see why it has won numerous awards and is all the rage in the beauty world.
Estée Lauder is currently offering a Gift With Purchase online at Nordstrom, so I wanted to pick up a few other things as well and take advantage of this special offer. (I love getting small sizes of skin care, they are perfect for traveling!) Here are a few of the products I am loving lately:
Its always important to start with a moisturizer. After washing my face, I used the DayWear Multi-Protection Cream. This oil-free moisturizer made my skin feel so soft (and I loved the smell). I also appreciate that the formula has SPF 25. This little trial size was included in my Gift With Purchase and it also included the night cream.
Being somewhat “new” to foundation, I was a little scared to try the Double Wear Foundation. As I’ve mentioned on here before, I typically stick with tinted moisturizers or CC creams, so I was not sure how heavy this would be and I definitely didn’t want something that would be too thick and “cakey”.
After one application I quickly became a fan.
The great thing about Double Wear Foundation, is that it literally lasts all day long and it’s not at all heavy. So maybe this wouldn’t be idea if you were sitting around the house all day, but if you had an event or a long day at work, this would be perfect. I love that this offers full coverage, yet it still lets your skin breath. It’s not dewey by any means, but it does not make the skin appear dull and matte. It’s a great balance. I also have heard from many others that you can build your coverage with this foundation. I only used a dime size, but if you’re looking for something a little heavier, wait to apply a second layer after 3 minutes of putting on the first application.
I apply this foundation with my foundation brush and beautyblender.
Another favorite of mine is the New Dimension Shape + Contour Face Kit. I actually purchased this product a few months ago, but have enjoyed using it for contouring. Cream contour is something that I am fairly new at, but I find it much easier to blend then the powder. I use this brush to draw a line from my ear to mid cheek, then blend with my beautyblender. This brush is amazing and great for sculpting.
I use the “highlighter” for my nose, under eyes, cupids bow, and above my brows. It’s very natural and subtle, but you can easily add more for something more dramatic. I also apply this with my beauty blender or this foundation brush.
Another product that came with my Gift With Purchase (I picked COOL2) was this little eye shadow palette. The colors are very pretty and ones that I will actually use…yahoo! (you know how that goes, sometimes you get the gift and it’s stuff you will never use. Not this time!) I love the size of this compact and plan to use it for travel or to throw in my makeup bag.
I am not a big fan of the sponge applicators though, so I use this eyeshadow brush to apply the color.
Ok, lets have a moment for this eyeliner. First, let me just say, that I had no idea what I was buying when I purchased this. I asked the lady at the counter what she would recommend to create winged eyeliner and she immediately showed me the Little Black Liner (and mentioned that Kendal Jenner uses it etc.) I was sold and took her word for it (plus, Nordstrom has THE BEST return policy so I figured why not give it a try).
Wow. Not only does this last all day long but it also makes it easy to get winged eyeliner. Now keep in mind, I’m not doing anything too crazy, but if you have been wanting to create a slight wing tip this will be your best friend.
To create an ultrafine line, its slim tip defines eyes with glide-on precision. For a thin line, the flat wedge tip creates a classic line. For a thick line, turn the wedge tip on its side for thick, full-on drama. It’s waterproof, smudge-proof and 100% flake-free. All in all, I will be buying this again!
I am used the Little Black Primer and Sumptuous Knockout Mascara. I found these to be nice and perfect for an “everyday look”. Nothing too dramatic, but this will definitely will give your lashes separation and length. I know that primers can sometimes make my lashes feel hard and I worry that they will break! That was not the case with this duo. My lashes felt soft and it was easy to remove with Take It Away makeup remover.
One takeaway (no pun intended) I got from trying these is that I needed to use a makeup remover in addition to my regular cleanser. Since the Double Wear is long lasting, you need a little more to get it off. I decided to hold off from purchasing at the time and got a sample of Take It Away instead. I used it three nights in a row and literally went back the next day to buy the full size bottle. This stuff is amazing (and on sale).
I use this on dry skin, then rise with warm water or wipe off with a couple cotton balls. I then follow with my normal face wash. This makes sure my skin is completely clean and keeps me from getting breakouts.
On my lips, I am wearing the AERIN Rose Lip Conditioner followed by a go-to color of mine, Snob. The lip conditioner is a pale pink, very sheer color, but it smells so fresh and leaves my lips feeling soft.
Thanks so much for reading! Please let me know if you have any questions or comments.

Hey! Love your tips, does the eyeliner goes on ghe waterline? Or do you prefer graphblack from Mac?

Hi There!
Great question. Unfortunately, this one isn’t ideal for the waterline. I tried it and while it worked, it came off within minutes. For the waterline, I still prefer the Technakohl from Mac.
Thanks for reading! xx Ashley

You already had make on in the beginning. What makeup did u apply before u started?
Ashley Robertson says
Hello,
Thanks for your comment! I actually put the makeup on as we took the photos, however, I see how it may look as if I had makeup on before. The only thing I had on was mascara and my eyebrow pencil.
Please know, I would never share something on here that I am not currently using or have not tried myself, especially when it comes to beauty and haircare. Everything on my face is what I shared in this post.
Thank you! xx Ashley
