Today’s post is a little different. But believe or not, I get a lot of questions about Austin’s beard and hairstyle. This is a department I can confidently say I know nothing about. So, Austin offered to put together a short gift guide for guys with beards. I hope this helps! Here’s what he wrote:
5 Gift Ideas For Dudes With Beards
Hello Internet! I’m not much for blogging, but I promised Ashley I’d write her a post about beards. So here it goes…
I’ll start with a Nick Offerman quote:
The best wisdom usually comes from men like Mr. Swanson, and this proverb holds true. But if your guy has had a beard of any length for any amount of time, he probably knows it can take some maintenance. Like the rest of your hair, the more work you put into, the more it pays off.
Before we dive into the gift ideas, we need to cover some basics on beard maintenance. First, the biggest complaint men have about growing beards is the itch. It can be down right infuriating. So, it’s good to always have some products that help with that. Second, shaping and trimming is an art of it’s own. Most men trim their own beards, and it can take some practice to get right. Good tools can go a long way. And lastly, how do you get a full, thick beard? Sadly, most of it is genetics. However, there are some products out there that can keep a healthy beard.
Alpha Fit Sonic Cleansing System for Men
This little gizmo is great. I was skeptical at first, because I figured I could just wash my beard with the $2 Suave in my shower. But after using this once, I was convinced I had been doing it all wrong. The bristles exfoliate your skin and get your beard hair nice and clean. This resolved any itch and dry sky immediately.
GNARLY SHEEN Refining Beard Oil
After a good clean, you feel all fresh. But if your beard has some length, it’s probably way to fluffy. You’ll want to shape that bad boy up before heading out. Apply this moderately through your cheeks, jawline, and chin. Shape the beard down to remove the post-wash fluff. Oh, and this smells amazing.
Clinique Men Moisturizing Lotion
During the dry winter, I sometimes need a little moisturizer. To be honest, I’m not very good at remembering that I need it. Ashley helps in this department. But, it’s a good habit to get in. It’s also a quicker alternative to a full wash. Obviously, applying some moisturize isn’t going substitute a shower. But if it’s one of mornings where you “forget” to shower, slap some of this on your face when you’re running out the door. I’ve used it, and it’s solid.
TRYM II – The Rechargeable Modern Hair Clipper Kit
It’s always good to have a good set of clippers to keep things tamed. I like this trimmer because it has its own recharging stand. The price is also right at $30. And if you won’t take my word for it, its got a ton of good reviews on Amazon.
Jack Black Wax Pomade
I hope that gives you some ideas for your Christmas shopping. Let us know in the comments if you’re going to put any of these under the Christmas tree! – Austin
