I just love the holidays. The festive lights, cozy sweaters and joy of the season are just a few things that I look forward to this time of year. But one tradition is special to me: Christmas Date Night. Each year, Austin and I pick an evening to celebrate the season just for the two of us. We started this tradition when we were dating and we both look forward to it every year! Whether we dress up or stay in, we always have a fun time enjoying the season. Here are a few of our things to do during the holidays:
Things To Do During the Holidays
1. Look at Christmas Lights
This is one of our favorites. Every year, we go to Mi Cocina in Highland Park Village, grab a hot coco from Starbucks, then drive through the neighborhoods while listening to Christmas music. Very basic, I know, but it’s a tradition I will always love!
2. Go Ice Skating
Almost seven years ago, Austin and I went to the Dallas Galleria to ice skate for our very first Christmas date. It was a blast. I specifically remember acting like I was “unstable” on the skates just so I could hold on to Austin while we skated. 🙈
3. At-Home Christmas Movie Night
I have to admit, we have a Christmas movie night several times during December. It always starts with Home Alone followed by all of our favorite classics. This is a fun (and cheap) way to celebrate the holiday season with loved ones! But no Christmas movie is night is complete without Christmas snacks. It doesn’t get better than baking cookies and watching Christmas Vacation.
4. Attend a Christmas Eve Service
The Christmas Eve church service is always my favorite service of the year. Having our families in town, we will usually coordinate to have everyone go. If you are looking for a great Christmas Eve service, Dallas has a many to choose from. Austin and I have been going to The Village Church for about 4 years now and always look forward to their service. Feel free to email me for more information, I would love to talk to you about it! 5. Build a Ginger Bread House
You know what, this is something I have never done! Maybe this year will be the year, but I would love to build a ginger bread house. However, it might be hard to not eat all of the toppings while trying to make it!
My Tweed Jacket from Banana Republic is the perfect way to make any outfit a little more festive (and it’s on sale). Anytime I see tweed it makes me think of the holidays! This will definitely be worn on our Christmas Date this weekend. I’m also looking for new and fun activities to around. Let me know in the comments things you like to do during the holidays! xx Ashley

Is your blazer different from the one linked? It doesn’t look the same and I love the one you are wearing!
Ashley Robertson says
Hey Robin,
Thank you for your question! I agree, it does look different. So strange! I went back to my order reciept to double check and it’s actually the correct one. I’m not sure why the zipper looks different, but this is the one I ordered. I hope that helps! xx Ashley
