Every few months I’ll venture over to Shein.com and take a look at their newest inventory. If you’ve followed my blog for a while, you know I post a few pieces here and there from Shein. However, I’ve never really shared a full-on review of my purchases. And since sharing this blouse on IG Stories last week, my DMs were full of questions about quality, sizing and my shopping experience with Shein.Let’s break it down, shall we?
What is Shein?
Shein is an affordable, trend-based retail site with locations in California, New Jersey, China, Dubai and Belgium. Most items are under $40 and they get new products daily.
My Experience:
Overall, I would say my experience has been pleasant. But it hasn’t always been a home run. You need to keep a few things in mind when shopping.
I order about 3-5 pieces every other month just to test things out and see if there is anything worth sharing with you.
Sometimes I have 1 or 2 items that don’t work for me. It could be that I didn’t measure the sizing correctly or the material felt cheap. But every now and then I find a real gem. Like this blouse!
And when I find a piece that I am impressed by, I love to share it with you guys.
Tips to keep in mind:
Measurements: Pay close attention to the sizing chart. I made this mistake a few times and did not read the specific size measurements. Generally, I find Shein to run a little small, but it’s always helpful to measure a similar top in your closet to see how the new one will fit.
Explore Page + Reviews: If you’re needing some inspiration or want to see how an item is styled by other customers, head over to their “Explore Page“.
Shipping: Shipping takes a bit longer than most, so keep that in mind. You can find all details on shipping here. I usually upgrade for $12 and my items arrive within 4-5 days.
Price: Let’s be real. If you’re paying $25 for a top, it’s not going to be one you wear year after year. The quality just isn’t there, but, like I mentioned above, I’ve had some of my favorite purchases come from Shein. You just have to be really picky and spend time looking through the material and sizing details.
All in all, I say give it a shot if you want to find some budget-friendly pieces. Personally, I have not had a good experience with swimwear or pants. I keep it pretty simple and order tops or swim coverups. Hope this helps! Feel free to leave questions below. xx Ashley

Hello ashley,
What size did you order in the blouse and is there anyway you could provide a link to where you purchased the belt? Thank you!!
Ashley Robertson says
Hi Brooke,
Thank you so much for reaching out! I add product details to the bottom of every post for future reference, but I ordered a size M in the blouse for a looser fit and here is the link to the belt. xx, Ashley

I don’t understand why you would promote a company where you say the “quality just isn’t there” and that you aren’t going to “wear it year after year.” You’re promoting fast fashion and waste which is damaging for the environment and the people who make that top that you can get for $25.
I understand that your base of followers wants affordable basics (I’m a teacher too!) but there are plenty of companies with affordable clothes that are ethical and more sustainable than the ones who show here. If we don’t have an unlimited budget than we need clothes that last and it sucks that you promote things that are cute for a look instead of clothes that can stand the test of time.
