It’s always cool seeing what you guys respond to, and recently, I’ve been getting a ton of questions about this pink roller. More specifically, it’s a rose quartz jade roller, meaning the stones on either end are rose quartz. And though jade rollers have been getting attention on social media lately, they’re actually an ancient beauty practice. Women from China have been relying on jade for centuries to stimulate and massage skin, among other rituals.
The 2018 version of jade comes in these handy rollers, which I’ve become obsessed with! Talking specifically about the rose quartz, there’s a long list of benefits. Rose quartz can remove toxins, diminish dark circles, promote lymphatic drainage (puffiness), improve circulation and even help with skin’s elasticity. A long list for such a small tool, right?
To use it, you essentially want to apply gentle upward strokes on your face, then downward strokes on your neck (down to your collarbone). You can use the larger stone for most of your face/neck, and then the smaller side around your eyes. To see a video on how to use any type of roller, I thought this one was pretty good.
I keep my roller in my bathroom so it stays chilled, and especially appreciate how it helps with inflammation. If I really need help in the morning (usually after a glass of wine or something salty the night before), I’ll use the roller again to depuff, but my real secret is using it at night. This helps to let my nighttime skincare routine absorb and sets me up for a bright, non-inflamed face in the morning. No matter what products I’m using at night, I always make the rolling part my last step. You’ll notice when you do this that all products sink into the skin more so than when you just leave them on. It’s pretty amazing! Plus, it’s a relaxing practice before drifting off. I may have caught Austin using it a few nights ago…
I’ve gotten some questions about the difference between the standard jade (green) and this roller, so I’ll be diving into that in our next Q+A newsletter (along with other FAQs). I’ll cover more of the serums and moisturizers I like to use underneath as well. If you’re interested in hearing more about rollers and my favorite green roller, sign up for that newsletter here.

How to you clean your roller?
Ashley Robertson says
Hi Roxanna,
I use soap and warm water. Some readers have told me they use Witch Hazel and a cotton ball to clean it and it works just as well. Up to you! Just be careful not to get the metal parts wet for too long. I use a washcloth to clean mine.
Hope that helps! x AR

Would this roller work for someone with rosacea?
Susan says
Both of your eye products are serums, so you use one as an eye cream and layer them?
