The summer season is all about a little color on the lips and if you’re like me, you tend to stick with soft pinks, peachy hues, and nudes. But what’s the best brands to try for a longwear and hydrating formula? This is a question I get asked often and was actually inspired to write this post based on recent emails and DM requests. You’ll often find each of these 4 lipsticks in my makeup bag and on rotation throughout the week.
So to take the guesswork out of your summer lip game, I’ve selected my tried-and-true nude and pink lipsticks for every occasion below.
I’m always curious to hear about other people’s go-to’s: do you have a signature shade that you swear by? xx Ashley
Swatches in order from left to right: YSL Rouge Pur Couture Lip Color- 70 Le Nu | TOM FORD- Lavish | Marc Jacobs- Sugar Sugar 312 | Buxom- Stealth
1. YSL Rouge Pur Couture Lip Color- 70 Le Nu
I purchased this lip kit at the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale a few weeks ago and have been very impressed with this trio. I’ve used YSL Beauty lipsticks before, so it’s no surprise that this kit was a home run for me. The color I’m wearing (70 Le Nu) is a true nude and ideal for anyone looking for a creamy lipstick.
2. TOM FORD- Lavish
I’m all about a coral lip and “Lavish” is my go-to for a pop of color. Not to mention, this shade is the perfect entry point for those who are timid about reds or bright colors.
You know I love Tom Ford lipsticks, and though they are pricey, I have yet to find a formula quite like them. I usually purchase the matte finish, but I actually surprised myself and ended up loving the Ultra-Shine Lipcolor formula. It’s hydrating and very pigmented. I have this is the color “Delectable” too!
3. Marc Jacobs- Sugar Sugar 312
I found this lipstick to be a little sheer, but it’s absolutely gorgeous! I like to wear this on top of my matte lipsticks as it gives it a nice sheen.
There’s the slightest hint of shimmer, but it’s barely noticeable (I don’t do shimmer). Instead, it makes your lips look hydrated and smooth.
4. Buxom Plumpline Lip Liner – Stealth
This all-in-one lipliner, lipstick, and lip-plumper is everything. Out of all the lip colors I’ve been wearing this summer, this has been my everyday go-to (mostly because it’s incredibly versatile).
This color is a peachy nude that can be worn alone or under a gloss. It’s a matte formula, but not at all drying (which is huge). Lately, I’ve been pairing this with the Marc Jacobs Hi-Shine Lip Lacquer in Sugar Sugar 312 and love the nude combo.

I use MAC cremesheen and Chanel Rouge Coco Shine. The Chanel glides on smoothly and it is very hydrating. Both have great colors!
