There’s really no easy way to jump into today’s scheduled post. If you follow us on Instagram you know that this past week (really the past 2 weeks) have been exceptionally hard for us. Last Wednesday we had to say goodbye to our precious French bulldog Lucy and we are beyond crushed. I will talk about this when I feel the time is right, but for now, we are trying our best to heal and find some sense of normal. Getting back into my regular posting schedule, working on creative projects and engaging with you guys on social media have started to help. Maybe it’s just a temporary distraction but it’s all I can do to prevent sitting in this empty house and letting my mind wander. I do want to thank everyone for the kind notes and prayers that were sent our way this past week. Austin and I read each one. And though it doesn’t take away the pain from losing a loved one, it was comforting to read your words of hope, love and strength.
I also have to extend my deepest thanks to the brands that we had projects and photo shoots scheduled for last week. One of the hardest things about grief is that life doesn’t stop. But it’s a lot easier to heal when your team and brand partners are flexible. With that being said, we had to move a few extra projects into November so you might be seeing more sponsored projects than our normal amount.
I say all of this because it’s important to know that we are extremely cautious of the sponsored content that goes onto our site and social channels. And the last thing I want to do is clutter your feed or inbox with #sponsored content. *Full disclosure: we only take 10% of the sponsored opportunities that come our way in an effort to keep everything 100% on brand for us and you. Every beauty or skincare product goes through a 5 week testing period by yours truly (with the exception of products like lipstick or mascara) and any clothing or accessory is always selected by me. It’s never in anyone’s best interest if a brand is forcing the product on you, and we don’t take any projects with those kinds of restrictions.
As always thanks for understanding and supporting our site. Like I mentioned yesterday, it can feel lonely having a job on the internet. But after this past week, it was clear that you guys are more than “followers”, you are my friends.
xx Ashley

I am so sorry to hear about Lucy. We lost our heart dog, Trippy, a year ago from cancer. The price of love is grief. 💔 Take care of yourself. She will send you little signs. You will find pennies in unusual places, and perhaps feel her lying next to you. She will always be by your side and then someday, you will be reunited at the Rainbow Bridge forever.

I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your Lucy. I can only say that for me, after a while the grief lessened and I was left with the best memories of my little Coco. I wish you and your husband all the best and please know that you gave Lucy the best life possible.

I am so sorry to hear of Lucy’s passing. What joy pets impart to us! Lucy gave her all to you and Austin and in return you gave all you had back to her. What a loving relationship. Your grief is a tribute to such a fine friendship.
