It’s always this time of year where I pursue a “less is more” approach to my summer beauty routine. I try to find products that give me breathable coverage, dewy skin, and of course, double as my SPF. But there’s more to summer beauty than just SPF — and if we’re being honest, we should be wearing it year-round, right?
Whether you’re heading on vacation or staying in town for the summer, these 10 products are sure to help you achieve the ultimate summertime glow.

TAN LUXE THE BODY DROPS -LIGHT MEDIUM
I’ve been using the Tan Luxe Body Drops for over a year now and was thrilled when Nordstrom started carrying this brand. They deliver an even, natural looking tan and I never have to worry about feeling like an Oompa-Loompa. I have a few tutorials on my IG Stories and here in a recent blog post where I break down my step by step process. I also share the lotion I pair it with back in this blog post.
HOURGLASS AMBIENT LIGHTENING BRONZER- DIFFUSED BRONZE LIGHT
A bronzer is a must for summer. This one gives you a natural glow and definition to your cheeks. This isn’t too shimmery either.
JANE IREDALE GLOW TIME BB CREAM WITH SPF 25
OB-SESSED would be an understatement. In the summer heat, the last thing you want is heavy makeup sitting on your face, clogging your pores, and possibly melting as the temperature rises. Switch out your foundation with a tinted BB Cream to hydrate your skin while providing sun protection. This one offers SPF 25 and a full coverage finish that still allows your skin to breath. My derm loves Jane Iredale (Nordstrom carries the entire line) and highly recommended this since I tend to break out easily. If your skin is really dry, you should check out the Complexion Rescue. I love the formula on that one (and it’s SPF 30), but can’t find a shade that matches me quite like the Glow Time.
No time to tan? This body makeup is an easy and quick solution to bronze, even-toned legs. I always take this with me on vacation.
BETTER THAN SEX WATERPROOF MASCARA
I usually don’t like to wear waterproof mascara but a MAU once told me her summer makeup tip was to apply a light coat on your lower lash line to avoid fall out or smudging. Especially if you find yourself outside on a hot, humid day.
CHARLOTTE TILBURY HOLLYWOOD BEAUTY LIGHT WAND
Swatched below! This dewy highlighter is a summertime essential. It comes with a sponge applicator that makes it easy to apply and blend. It’s such a pretty color to use on the high points of your face (cheekbones, bridge of your nose and cupids bow). I usually dab then blend with a beauty sponge or brush.
The texture on this is unlike any lip balm I have tried. It’s not sticky or super thick, yet keeps your lips soft and hydrated. Highly recommend throwing this in your beauty bag.
Swatched below! If you need a good eyeshadow base or prefer a soft shimmer for your eyeshadow, this will be your best friend. It doesn’t crease (I repeat, doesn’t crease!), it’s easy to use (I often use my finger to apply) and is ideal for travel since you don’t have to worry about a powder breaking. Highly recommend this!
I did a whole review on this a few weeks ago, but this is THE BEST water cream/gel moisturizer I have ever tried (if you are a regular around here, you know I’ve tried a lot of gel moisturizers). I plan on wearing it year round, but it’s especially nice during the summer. It’s lightweight and feels soothing on your skin.
CHANEL LIPGLOSS IN MELTED HONEY
This golden gloss is gorgeous worn alone or on top of your favorite nude. I can’t stop wearing this!
OUTFIT DETAILS:
Striped Jacket | Striped Pants | Nude Tank (love this for layering, I am wearing a medium) | Strappy Heels (also worn here)

Hi Ashley, when you use the KIEHLS watercream moisturizer what type of sunscreen do you use with it? Thanks

Hi Lacie, My foundation has SPF so I typically stick with that. If I’m planning on being outside for a while, I use the Supergoop Setting Spray over my makeup. Hope that helps! x AR
