It’s no secret blazers are one of my biggest wardrobe staples. No matter what season it is you can always find me wearing one. They’re classic and, in my opinion, will never go out of style, however, that’s not to say there aren’t different silhouettes and ways of styling them. This is why today I’m bringing a fall 2019 guide all about blazers!
Photos from all the fashion weeks are everywhere right now and even though I wasn’t there this year, it’s always fascinating to see what was trending on the runways and in street style. I always get so much inspiration and new ideas for styling my closet basics from these photos and blazers are definitely included in that.
See below for styles I’m loving and how to wear blazers this season. Do you see yourself wearing any of these styles? Let me know!

The must-have fall blazer style
I’d say the number one silhouette for blazers right now is a boxy, menswear-inspired style (like this affordable option). I love this because it’s relaxed and comfortable yet still very polished and put together. Think your grandpa’s blazer – neutrals, plaid patterns, animal print and an oversized fit. I’m also into warm hues like marigold, burnt orange and rust blazers. I’ll link some favorites at the end of the post but first, how to style blazers right now…
How to wear blazers this fall
I like to keep my style pretty classic so my go-to style for a blazer will always be layered with a basic tee or cami. But there are tons of options and inspo out there right now if you want to venture outside the box. A few I’ve taken the most notice of include:
Sleeves pushed up
Now this is a trend I’m totally behind and will do when styling a blazer. It used to be you’d simply roll your sleeves (and you definitely still can – I do!), but instead, now you push them up just past your wrist. It’s a very chic, casual look that I think anyone can pull off. Looks cool with a stack of bracelets, too.
Belted
Whether it’s with a statement belt or a belt bag, belting your blazer is the “it” style right now. I do love a good waist-accentuating moment, which this is great for.
Buttoned up
I’ve seen this mostly done with double-breasted blazers, but you can also do it with a single. It has more of a high fashion vibe to it.
With biker shorts
Have you tried biker shorts? I don’t know if you’ll ever see me try this trend, but I’ve seen plenty of other people rock them really well with an oversized blazer.
As a power suit
I’ve also seen quite a few amazing power suits this fall from plaid to pinstripes to bold colors. If you work in the corporate world or have a fun event, this would be a really great way to wear your favorite blazer and pant duo while showing off your personal style.
Layered
I’m very much into all things coats this season and we’re seeing tons of chic options, especially long ones. To layer up, simply pair your blazer under a coat that sits on top of your shoulders. It’s the 2019 version of layering.
