Almost four months later, I finally feel like I’m getting energy back to get dressed (most days), but in the early early stages of motherhood, that simply wasn’t the case. I lived in comfy loungewear and honestly didn’t even deal with jeans for at least a few weeks. And while that was comfy and all, I did occasionally miss, you know, looking decent.
Eventually, I got the hang of getting dressed for certain occasions like church, meetings, or even a coffee run with Austin and George. Obviously as a new mama, you’re healing and are somewhat uncomfortable and we won’t even get into waistbands. I lived in this combination – flowy midi dress, oversized linen blazer, slides, and a hat (let’s be real, my hair was rarely clean) – and felt good in it. It was equal parts comfortable and cute and it gave me confidence in leaving the house.
If you’re a new mama or soon-to-be, I definitely suggest a similar combination. I also put together a few blog posts of my favorite products we use for George, here. These bottles have definitely been our favorite (we used Dr. Brown’s at first but they have been leaking on us now) and we used this bassinet for the first 10 weeks — it was a lifesaver! Also, if you are a new mom or looking to get a gift for a baby shower, the Nose Frida is the best. Not glamorous by any means, but now that we are getting into cold season, it’s been so helpful.
I’ll link a few similar dresses that I love below. Some are nursing-friendly if you’re going that route, too.
xx Ashley

Hey! I have seen many women around me face the problem of feeling under confident while leaving the house, in the initial months of motherhood, thus you give all those women a convenient solution for feeling good about themselves, something this society methodically tries to suppress. You are a glimmer of hope, cheers!
