This is our first holiday season in the new house and I couldn’t wait to add my personal touch on the Halloween decorations. I like to keep it pretty minimal by creating themed vignettes and sticking to a black and white color palette. The best part? Most of these decorations are budget-friendly and can be found at Amazon, Target or Walmart. Amazing right?
Below I’ve shared 5 easy ideas to get your home feeling festive, just in time for Halloween. If you missed our front porch decorations, you can check them out here! xx Ashley
1. COFFEE TABLE
If you have a small space or don’t want to go all-in with the Halloween decorations, start small with a spooky candle. Adding a simple decoration like this allows the spot to feel festive without overdoing it.
2. MAKE YOUR ENTRYWAY SPOOKY
The tiny bats in the entryway were a big hit this year. However, next year I am going with these black butterflies. Decorating your console table with spiderwebs or light up pumpkins can really make things feel festive. And if you aren’t big on a lot of color, stick to a monochromatic color palette or black + white to make things feel cohesive.
3. MIX + MATCH WHITE PILLAR CANDLES
I love the look of grouped white pillar candles bunched together. I added some in jars, some without, for a vintage meets apothecary feel. I don’t usually light these candles, but the more “burned” they look the better. Before decorating, set them out in a safe space and let them burn for an hour. I would group the candles on my kitchen table, entry table or any console table. Add some spider webs underneath them or draped off the table for an extra spooky look.
4. ADD A FESTIVE TOUCH TO YOUR SHELVES
Add some pumpkins, webbed cloth or bats to your shelves for an extra spooky vibe. I found this ceramic pumpkin at Target and knew it would be perfect under our floating shelves. I actually ended up ordering another one for next year — it’s so pretty!
5. CREATE A THEMED BOOK NOOK
This takes me back to my kindergarten teaching days, but creating a holiday-themed book corner or bookshelf is so much fun when you have little ones. Next year when George is a little older, we plan to go all out with festive books.
