I’ve tried a lot of eyeshadow palettes over the years and the truth is, I never really felt like they were worth the money. I’m more of a “natural eyeshadow” kind of gal and most of the palettes I tried were either too smokey, too coppery or just didn’t really appeal to what I would wear on a day-to-day basis.
But I see the appeal in an eyeshadow palette. They are easy to keep in your makeup bag (only worrying about one compact is pretty nice) and it serves up a few options depending on your mood or outfit.
We have quite a few trips coming up and in the spirit of finding something that would be a good travel option, I tested out 4 different eyeshadow palettes from Nordstrom. This eyeshadow palette from Laura Mercier was hands-down my favorite. I really do feel like it has a little something for everyone. Six neutral, everyday shades and a few plum options for a crease are literally just what I need. It also has a couple green and navy options which honestly almost made me not buy this palette, but after swatching them in the store, they blended really nicely and weren’t as flashy as I originally had thought.
Things to keep in mind when using this palette:
The colors are very pigmented, start small then build
Wet your brush with water for a dramatic pop
If you have an eyeliner brush, you can use the last two dark shades as a liner
Have fun with it!

That pallette looks so boring and bad…like the colors dont sparkle or pop and hardly stand out, cant imagine another skintone wearing it.
Ashley Robertson says
Not necessarily — 6 of the colors have shimmer and it’s meant to be more of a natural/everyday option. I don’t do bold colors for my eyeshadow. x

I like that palette. It’s so hard to find one with a nice neutral base color that has no shimmer. It seems every palette has too many shimmers and not enough mattes. I always end up using either two palettes or a palette and some singles. Also it has a nice big mirror. That’s important to me because if I’m going to spend 50 or 60$ on a palette, it better have a mirror!!

I love this palette. The mattes blend out so beautifully. It’s one of my top picks – especially for some of my more mature clients
