A few weeks ago I went to a beauty event at Nordstrom and had the opportunity to sit down with a few of Charlotte Tilbury’s lead makeup artists. I always use that time to ask questions, listen and most importantly LEARN about new products and makeup hacks. It’s so much fun for me.
Side note: A lot of you know that I worked at a little beauty store part-time in high school, college and even during my first few years of teaching. It was truly one of my favorite jobs. I loved getting to meet with clients, attend product education classes and test new products before launching. It actually played a big role in launching this site.
Ok back to the point, When I sat down at the event, we talked about transitioning makeup for the new season, specifically lipsticks. I always love a pink-ish nude, but for fall, I like to add deeper tones and a little spice. They helped me find the perfect lipstick/lipliner combo.
STEP ONE: PRIME + MOISTURIZE
A few weeks ago I bought the Tom Ford Lip Primer at Nordstrom (they were having a beauty sale and I snagged this 15% off) so I decided in the spirit of research, I’d test it out. It’s not for everyone, but I did notice it kept my lipstick on significantly longer than without me wearing it. I didn’t notice a big difference in the hydration of my lips, but in terms of priming and making them look smooth, it definitely worked.
STEP TWO: LINE + FILL
Line your entire lips with Supersize Me. We are essentially creating a stay-on all day lipstick by using the liner all over our lips. I know we’ve all heard about Pillow Talk and yes, it really is the perfect nude liner but Supersize Me is a few tones darker and gives your lips a rich, full look ideal for fall and winter. This is a peachy brown and IMO looks great blended with a nude gloss or lipstick.
STEP THREE: ADD DIMENSION
Pat Kim K W in the middle of your lips and blend out with your finger. Be careful, you don’t want to take the entire lipstick over your lips, you only want to focus on the middle and then pat to blend it out. I start at the cupids bow and then dab in the middle of my bottom lip. This will create a beautiful ombre lip that makes your lips look full and pouty.
What is your fall lip color? xx Ashley
