Most of the time I’m a girl who prefers dressing for spring or summer temperatures, but there are some trends that get me really excited about putting together winter outfits. The grandpa sweater is one of those trends. And honestly, it could probably be worn year-round with a little bit of layering. Anyway, have you seen these sweaters taking over Instagram? I wore this under $40 cardigan (and this pink one wore here) in Austin this weekend and so many of you asked about it. It has a cropped fit, but looks really good with high-rise denim. I feel like they’re everywhere so I had to try it out and now I’m obsessed.
It’s an easy trend to try and I found quite a few affordable options, but if you’re not convinced just yet, here are a few reasons why I’m loving it.
Versatility
If there’s one box I try to check with outfits these days it’s versatility. I want to invest in pieces I can wear for multiple occasions and style several different ways. Grandpa sweaters definitely check this box. If this is important to you too, I can’t recommend them enough.
Comfort
This goes without saying. There was a time when I’d try a trend or wear things because I loved how they looked even though they weren’t comfortable, but I just can’t do that anymore. Maybe it’s because I’m getting older, maybe it’s mom life, but either way, I need my clothes to be 100% comfortable.
The perfect mom-on-the -go outfit
I know not all of you are moms, but if I’m being honest, I think one of the main reasons I’m loving these sweaters so much is because it’s easy for me to wear one and look put together while still being really comfortable. I can throw on one of my grandpa sweaters over a basic tee and be on the floor with George one minute and out the door off to a casual meeting the next.
