I did a Pregnancy Q+A on Instagram recently and a popular question that came up was where to shop for maternity clothes. But honestly, there’s very few maternity brands that I like. With the exception of pants, I try to stick with stretchy or flowy non-maternity pieces that will accommodate the bump. I typically have good luck at Amazon and prefer to not spend a ton on tops or dresses that I’m not going to wear past the pregnancy.
As you can see, I wear a lot of black. I find it’s the easiest to pair with other accessories and I feel most comfortable in black leggings and a stretchy tank or hoodie right now. Oh, and if you are experiencing lower back or pelvic pain, I can’t recommend this maternity belt enough. It was a life-saver with George and now with this pregnancy.
BUMP-FRIENDLY AMAZON FINDS
BLAZERS AND JACKETS
This boyfriend blazer is incredible. I wear a size medium and it’s the perfect length. I would say it’s bit longer than your typical blazer. Highly recommend pregnant or not.
I also have this army green jacket that I have been wearing (It’s TTS but I sized up for a more oversized fit).
T-SHIRTS AND TANKS
This tank has been worn so much, I bought another one to rotate between washes. I sized up to a large, but it’s long enough to fit the bump and really soft and snug. It’s the perfect layering piece.
I also have this tee that I wear. It’s not maternity, but will accommodate the bump if you size up.
DRESSES
I just bought this dress and plan to wear once it gets warmer and postpartum. Thankfully, I won’t be pregnant in the thick of summer but I know I’ll be living in these types of dresses.
I also have this sweater dress which is really stretchy yet structured (if that makes sense?) and just ordered this ruched t-shirt dress.
LEGGINGS AND SHORTS
I live in leggings during my pregnancies. These leggings (size up for bump) were the #1 maternity pick from my Secret Facebook Group. Even though they aren’t maternity, they stretch and move with the belly. These are incredibly supportive and thick, so no need to worry about being see-through. I have a detailed maternity leggings review here if you want to check it out.
I also bought a few of these over-the-bump biker shorts (TTS). They are buttery soft and I love the look of these shorts, sneakers and an oversized sweatshirt. I also bought this pair of biker shorts and they are a tad shorter than the ones above and have a thicker, more supportive fabric. I prefer these out of the two!
BRAS + PANTIES
If you have a fuller chest, I love these nursing bras. They are more supportive than most of the other ones I tried and keep you held up and in. Plus, easy access when it’s time to feed or pump. I used these with George too. Bra Extenders are a must too…or at least they were for me. Good times.
I also love these under the belly panties. They are so soft and great for postpartum too.
PAJAMAS
I have pajamas from Cosebella and Eberjay and yes, the fabric is super soft. But honestly, this pair feels VERY similar to the luxury brands (they even hold up well after the wash). I am taking these with me to the hospital too. Size up to fit the bump (maybe 2 sizes if you want it to feel extra roomy).
I also bought it in the sleep shirt version and took a size large.
SLIDES AND SLIPPERS
I guess these aren’t a “pregnancy essential” but in a way, they are. I have been living in these faux fur house slides since last summer, and they are definitely coming with me to the hospital.
If you want something extra cozy, I love this pair.
