Summer for me usually means less makeup, more bronzer and lots of SPF. And now that life in the newborn and toddler stage are both in full swing, I don’t have quite as much time for getting ready like before. It’s key for me to find products that work well and won’t melt off my face (like this all-in-one face palette or tinted BB Cream with SPF from Nordstrom)
I’ve found a routine that works great for me and leaves me with that glowy summer skin that I desperately want to achieve. This look is breathable, has SPF and still gives you a little coverage even without an actual foundation. Need I say more?
Here’s what I use:
1. CHARLOTTE TILBURY HOLLYWOOD FLAWLESS FILTER
I wear shade 2 and 4.5 depending on how much tan I have going on.
I’ve been using this glowy primer for years. I LOVE IT.
In the past when I heard “makeup primer”, I would think of something heavy, sticky and not at all breathable. This is different. You can wear this alone or mixed in with your foundation or as a primer. I personally love it as a primer since it helps smooth out imperfections and leaves a nice glowy base for your foundation or tinted moisturizer.
If you want to use as a primer, let it sit for a minute before applying any foundation or tinted moisturizer.
2. JANE IREDALE GLOWTIME FULL COVERAGE BB CREAM (SPF 25)
I wear shade 4
This is my ride-or-die. I wore this throughout both of my pregnancies and still reach for it often. Though it’s technically not a foundation, it gives you beautiful, breathable coverage that you can wear light or layered for a full coverage look. It’s also mineral based so it won’t break out sensitive skin. I can’t recommend this enough!
I use a pea-size amount for lighter coverage.
3. CHARLOTTE TILBURY INSTANT LOOK OF LOVE PALETTE
I wear the Pretty Blushed Beauty Palette
I bought this a couple months ago when it arrived at Nordstrom (they always have the best beauty section) and have been loving it. I’m not usually a fan of “all-in-one” palettes but I find this one really usable for everyday wear.
I love that the bronzer is matte and more cool-toned (most tend to be too orangey for me) so it’s ideal if you want a subtle contour shadow. I will actually use the darker brown eye shadow too when I want to create a deeper contour.
The powders are buttery and blendable.
I wear shade Light Brown
When Gucci first launched their beauty brand, I was intrigued. I purchased this brow pencil, the mascara and a few lipsticks. The brow pencil is one of the best (I just bought my second pencil to throw in my car for touch ups). It’s more of a “powder” pencil and makes it really easy to draw and blend. It’s not as creamy as the ABH or others I’ve tried. I personally prefer this and love how easy it is to apply when filling in gaps in my brows. For small, hairlike strokes, try this Microblading Pen.
5. HOURGLASS SOFT FOCUS SETTING SPRAY
A good setting spray is key to makeup longevity and also can help blend your makeup together in all the right places. Does that make sense? I like to spray my face, then take my damp beauty sponge (nothing on it) and lightly press in to my skin. This melts any harsh lines and makes everything look airbrushed.
PS: I’m also very very picky when it comes to facial spray mist and this one is very light and fine. You will not feel “wet” after applying. Worth every penny!
6. LIPS
I love a good neutral lip year round, but especially during the summer. This combo has yet to let me down!
Liner: Charlotte Tilbury Hot Gossip
Lipstick: MAC Half and Half
Gloss: Dior Maximizer in 013 Beige
