I love doing these big trend posts each season, or at least for spring and fall when I feel like we see the newest trends emerge. They’re fun! I never wear every single trend that’s happening, and truthfully usually pass on most, but there is always a handful that I’m excited to try. For Spring ’22, here are 5 trends that are TTD approved.
CUTOUTS
I’m not one to show a ton of skin and I tend to dress somewhat conservatively, which is why I like the cutout trend. It allows for a hint of skin without baring your whole midriff (again, not for me). I also like that you can find cutouts in a variety of styles – on your sides, back, more midriff, etc – and choose a style within the trend that works for you. My personal favorite? Small side cutouts in flowy dresses like I’m wearing in this post. This Peplum Top is also a favorite, with the puff sleeves, peplum and modest cutout details.
GEOMETRIC BAGS
Give me all the bags with strong shapes and geometric structures! I’m a bag girl so I had a hard time picking a few favorites…instead below are a bunch that I’m eyeing. I snagged this Celine beauty a few weeks ago that I’ve received a lot of questions on and it’s a 10/10.
COLOR
Colors for spring aren’t anything groundbreaking but I will say that I’m drawn to MUCH more color than I usually am. If I had to choose two colors I’m most into, it’d be neon yellow/green and pink. I currently have this Pastel Cardi in my cart that feels quintessential spring. If you are hesitant, try keeping a very neutral base and add a colorful bag or shoe. My go to is a white button down, denim and fun heels.
PLATFORM SHOES
We’ve seen the ’90s come back in a big way over the last year or two and platform shoes are the newest (re)trend I’m loving. From super chunky options like these Platform Sandals to daintier platforms like these Ankle Strap Sandals (again, in color!), this is a fun one. And I tried to include some realistic options — no one has time for a rolled ankle over here.
RELAXED DENIM
You know I’m a denim girl so I’m always interested in what the next trend will be here. And while this trend isn’t too radical, I’m definitely loving relaxed denim. Personally, I’ve retired my skinny jeans and am fully embracing effortless, relaxed denim. If you still like a straighter leg, I suggest this Agolde pair and if you want to go for a wide look, these from Something Navy are cute! I’m including the relaxed pairs I’m into below but you can also find the jeans I wear the most often in this blog post.
